[resolved] NVIDIA OpenGL driver detects problem with display driver - CRASH
First time, I start up a single-player game, and launch an attack withs some tanks. They destroy a couple of buildings, then, when they get attacked by some planes, I get this error:

The NVIDIA OpenGL driver detected a problem with the display
driver and is unable to continue. The application must close.

It made the game not respond then crash =\

I don't know if my specs are actually relevenat, but im running Win7 on an ASUS laptop (stop laughing) with
4GB RAM
GEFORCE GT540M CUDA 1GB
INTEL core i5 CPU (i think its 4 or 5 cores).

I have not yet had the time to replicate this scenario, so I don't know if its actually linked to the planes. Probs not.

Can you please check this how-to, create DxDiag.txt, upload it and post download link here?

I'll check your system information and try to find out what wrong.
Haha, I knew I'd probably missed something. *donk*. I edited it into the top post. Thanks!
I can't check information about your Nvidia drivers, but Intel one is outdated:
Card name: Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000
Driver Date/Size: 11/7/2013 00:52:50, 12617216 bytes
To update drivers download and install "win64_152822.exe" from Intel website:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23764
If you get "not validated for this computer" error download ZIP version of driver ("win64_152822.zip") from same page and then install it using this instruction:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/233250/discussions/2/558749190911446231/

Can you please make sure that you're using most recent driver from Nvidia website?

I downloaded the Intel update, as well as a Nvidia update. I'll try the game today (if I have time) and see if the crash happens again.
Right, it hasn't given me the error any more, and I've played for like 3 hours since I updated the drivers. Thanks for the fix!
Hello. I've got the same problem when i'm playing Tropico5 or 7daysTodie. My screens become black and openGL error message.
Here my DxDiag.txt : https://www.sendspace.com/file/f8oryo

I hope you can find something to do !

Your system information looks fine so you'd better try to contact support of these games.

Also it's weird that you have such problems with Tropico 5 because it's not using OpenGL.

Yes ! I tried to unplug my third screen (TV 42" -> HMDi) and I could play to 7daystodie almost 2h without black screen. After 2 hours the problem came back and freezed my PC !
You might also try increase driver timeout, but I can say how helpful it's will be for you:

ok i saved my registry (354Mo) and apply the Microsoft fix and save again the registry (445Mo) after a reboot. I hope that's work ! I'll try tomorrow, I keep you in touch. Thank you
I'm so disappointed, that doesn't work :( always black screens :(
I had this problem, I was receiving Error 1 then Error 2 after changing the Timeout Detection & Recovery (TDR).

In the end it turned out to be a faulty DRAM module.

Try testing each DRAM module on it's own to see if the problem arises.

Well, how do you test it/fix it?
Morning

On our PC with GeForce GTX 760 4 GB Evga edition, this was a very nasty problem, especially when using Adobe and Autodesk products. After many tweaking with doing whatnot to fix this irritating Error, it happened to be the Nvidia drivers after all causing the problem. I suppose this is a conspiracy related issue with Nvidia purposedly making their new drivers to experience problems with profesional programs in order for you to buy their overpriced Quadro series if you make money, or their newest GTX if you are a gamer. The problem is especially seen with 34x.xx + drivers on olded GTX series.

SOLUTION: I made a CLEAN install of this Nvidia driver: 331.82 WHQL

Even if it is old, I don't suffer ANY framedrops in newest games. In fact, there might be even a FPS improvement over the 358.91 driver. And most importang thing is that the problem with Kernel Error is gone for good!!! Been testing this almost one week without a simple crash when I had crashes between 1-2 hours on the same configuration with 34x, 35x and 36x drivers, especially when rendering in 3DMax or working in Photoshop.

Give it a try, why not? Worst case it won't solve your problem and lose 10 minutes of driver installation. Best case, it will work and you will be happy!
