Complaint! (need ability to retry galactic war losses)
I just discovered that if I let my loss play out I can never retry. That's total crap since crashes and quitting don't do that. Basically this policy punishes honor also since there is no save function.

hehe I found that if things go sour I exit out and restart level lol.

Ditto, I didn't realize I'd be punished for failing to give up. It's like the theme of life these days.

It's not finished yet, those features will be in the 1.1 release

I was hoping that's the case, but in the mean time I was kind of hoping someone knew of a mod or something to basically remove "annihilated" as a final condition until then. But it's fine, I'll just quit early from now on.

GW is meant to be a Rogue-like. As it says "Annihilation is Final." It's kind of the whole point of the game mode.

I can simply close the game before I die and when I return I can replay the mission I exited from.

I believe that was mentioned 3 comments ago. (looks up) Yup, right there it is.

My complaint stands. If I can simply quit right before I lose then I should be able to retry a match after I've lost.

Further, I don't care what who meant what, I care what's fun. And being punished for fighting to the death is corrosive to my fun.

Again, until such time as a save system can be implemented, the annihilated state needs to be removed. Or a resume from final mission option needs to be implemented or something.

Look up "rogue-like".

Once you lose, you lose. There's no retries of that save.

O.o Why am I having to explain this repeatedly?

"Did IQs just drop sharply while I was away?" ~Ellen Ripley, Aliens

Once again, as has already been explained, twice now, the point is that I can already at this moment quit before I die to retry the match. This is the default behavior. Who among us is not capable of seeing death coming usually long before it arrives and quits simply to save time? I have only ever been annihilated once, and that was because I decided to let it play out in a last stand at the Alamo meta game kind of way.

I play plenty of roguelikes I understand the genre. But permadeath is meaningless in this context because I'll always have sufficient warning to exit the game.

Procedurally generated quasi RPG single play in an rts is freaking brilliant. But there are no instant kills in PA, even the annihilaser gives you an audio warning giving you time to pause and close the window. You'd have to be an oblivious player indeed to not be already scouting the catalyst build sites constantly even if it was totally silent.

There's no simple way around that up to an including a simple backup of my save folder or a third party process killer.

Thus, there are three options:

1. Leave it broken, which just punishes people for sticking it out making alt-f4 a meta gaming requirement.
2. Deploy drm-style shenanigans to try to evade prevent all possible exit options, which would render the game profoundly frustrating, (due to crashes and real life interveneing alone) and be extremely technically work intensive.
3. Permit last battle retries on "annihilated" saves.

The point of this complaint is that #1 is clearly a silly option. It prevents a whole class of amusement. And basically makes the gaming equivalent of an unenforceable law.

I don't know how much more clearly this issue can be explained.

Sorry but why you realy Complaining?
You play rougelike Games you understand taht mechanik? Now in PA you dont like it? Just beacuse you get a notification a secon before it Happens? Let me say this the notifactions com from to multiplayer part there you may have mor Planets and stuff like taht you a Anhiltion of one is not the end so the Messag is to infomr all Player that it will happen soon to one Planet.

If you use Alt+F4 do save you from losing its fine but the intenions of the game mode ist rougelike gameplay I think you know waht taht means.
So waht you want is just a other Gamemode or more like a normal Cmapaign without the rougelike Element.

For taht I would say dont tittel this treahd Complain but mor like I wish (waht you wannt) and post it on hte oficcel Forums so the devs are mmore likly to see it.

It's a complaint because it's obviously intentional and I'm opposing it. It's not a bug or a missing feature, it's a choice I want recinded for all the reasons I mentioned above.

Devs see this stuff, they talk on here a lot, but thanks for your suggestion :)

It's not super important right now anyway.

To save, hit Alt+f4 to retry the system again

Ok now I'm just being trolled :P Well done. I totally almost fell for it. (again?) :P

Whilst I enjoy the rogue-like style, I have to agree with Innomen.
If you can just quit out and try again, why bother punishing people for finishing properly.
Fingers crossed for a GW mid game save option soon.

Yeah, a save system will fix this. But I imagine given the unique nature of chronocam that that will be a long time coming and a hard thing to implement.

I suspect the retry thing would be a relatively simple mod for someone who already knows how it works for other reasons.

Oh, you were complaining about the "quit match to retry" bug in GW.
