You might try upgrading your graphics drivers. It could be the problem is rare because the drivers that have that problem haven't been used much. That's just shooting in the dark, though.
If you can, get to the NVIDIA control panel and manage the 3D settings for just this game. Set the verticle sync to On. That should keep the fps down and let the 9600M cool down.
Edit: I tried the Vsync Forced On in the Nvidia control panel, but to no effect. 5 minutes in the game, 85C. I will try upgrading my drivers next, and hope for the best
Edit2: I ugraded my drivers to the latest. Still no effect. Sigh, i guess i will play the game when i get a new desktop then... So disappointing...I've been looking for a good recent turnbased combat rpg to play and the one i find turns my laptop into a toaster. Well, thanks again for the input.
This game basically works around finely crafted texture quality, with no anti aliasing or stuffs that newer computers are made to handle in their workload. I don't want to bore ya with more talk, but you'd need a new computer, and even then it would be a chore to get this game running right!
Its just that your PC is unable to get the heat away fast enough.
This is not a software error, maybe you should look what is wrong with your hardware. A PC should never overheat like this. It should be able to sustain 100% load. Sure, it gets loud and hot, but it should not shut down or be damaged.
I have a laptop as well and I'm currently downloading the game and will try it out. I will tell you if I will run into this issue.
My laptop specs are:
AMD Turion Dual Core x2 RM-74 2.2ghz
ATI Radeon HD 4650 Mobility
4GB Ram.
Even with power options set to power saver?
