Stronghold Crusader 2 hangs on exit back to steam library causing reliability monitor reporting appfault

I have tried many things, in attempt to get Stronghold crusader 2 to close properly. File verification, game start and save paths, Drivers, DX files, c++, and compatibility modes. Anyone have any other ideas why it runs perfect until its time to exit game?
