Double Fine offering full refunds for Broken Age backers
I know there was some discussion of refunds in the past, but the requests were denied. Now it seems they're offering the refunds to anyone who wishes one: http://www.doublefine.com/forums/viewthread/16768/P15/

Although I didn't post in the above thread, I personally got a full refund just today, and I am now a very satisfied DF customer for the first time in a while.

I actually got my backer rewards revoked a few months ago for being too critical on the forums. Anyway... all's well now that my money has been returned.

Note that if you enjoy the game, that's great and this thread isn't intended for you. However, I know I've seen several posts here that were very negative toward the game and its handling overall. So for those people: act now and get your money back! They might not keep offering these after Act 2 comes out next week. Meanwhile, there are many great adventure games out there that are very deserving of your money :)

EDIT: Sucks that it needs to be said, but this has absolutely nothing to do with feminism or #gamergate. I am actually anti-#gamergate.

Glad to see Double Fine starting to take customer service and public relations seriously. Spaff seems to be doing good work. Too bad it took this long for Tim to fill this role.

Do you know how they're handling the physical rewards in cases of refunds? I had someone ask me.

But why would I want to do that?

Everybody's different, man! There was even an episode of the documentary that mentioned refund requests. At the time, these requests were rejected. Now they seem like a possibility!

Without negative feelings, some of us regret spending our money on a product that wasn't what we wanted. I was happy to get a refund and put it towards indie adventures I enjoy instead.

Seems like a good question for Spaff... I paid for the game and the game alone :)

This riles me up to no end, I can't count how many times I've been accused of being a GGer because I said something bad about Spacebase DF9.

Apparently ideological flag waving is a way of deflecting criticism now.

Would have loved to got a refund on Spacebase DF-9. Especially the way that one went down. If they were willing to consider that option...?

I might possibly buy another DF game later on down the road or even some others Ive been holding off on buying, if they did refunded my original 24.99, that is.

I would be happy then, feel lke an appriciated customer and want to show more support, loyalty and forgiveness to a game Dev.

I love adventure games and only held off on buying any of Doublefine's is due to my feelings about how they treated the steam backers with Spacebase DF-9.

Until they refund the steam spacebase backers I just cant support a company that would do what they did with Spacebase, they lied and misslead very mucho on that game. Some would say it was just bad handling and communication. I dont care what you call it, reasuring your steam backers that your not gonna stop working on Spacebase DF-9, then have a big sale, again saying no worries guys we are going to finish it, then pull the its 1.0 now, we are all good right???

That leaves a customer feeling used and very un-appriciated. It was enough of a feeling for me not no longer even consoder buying anymore games from them.

but awesome news for the Broken Age backers getting thiers back. hope this bleeds over into other PR rejuivination efforts that may be at work at DF. :)

Thanks Suejak, ever helpful I see.

With the release of Act 2 one week away, and the Documentary series almost 19 episodes in and now filming the finale, we’ve delivered on all that we promised in our kickstarter, bar a few more physical rewards that need the game and documentary to be finished before they can go into production.

As such we don't see the need to issue any refunds, especially as we're unable to revoke any backer rewards - everything you paid for will still be on your humble page Suejak.

Having said that, in special cases we have indeed issued a refund to certain people for Broken Age. In Suejak’s case it was due to his continued harassment of our staff and community members that we wanted to see the end of. If you’re thinking of trying the same thing, please don’t, it won’t work.

If you believe you have a special case then by all means get in touch - there's nothing new here, this has always been the case. If you just didn’t like the game though, I’m sorry to say that’s kinda tough luck at this point. Sorry!
