But Tripwire is the one whom is causing this, a few responses to this thread or a bit more information then has been given would, in all likeihood, put a stop to this entire debate. Customer interaction and PR is a big part of business school for a reason. As such, they cannot reasonably be defended here.
The purpose of necroing the threads, as RAMBO put it, was to spam the forums with the same message over and over to get attention to an issue he thought was not being addressed (it is: http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showpost.php?p=1409107&postcount=126 )
When you necro a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of threads by just going, "BUMP" or "THIS NEEDS ATTENTION" you're spamming the forums, ♥♥♥♥-posting, and deserbe a lifetime ban for being a useless ♥♥♥♥-lord. So let's stop discussing us losing a useless community member and focus on positive, legitimate solutions to AI TPing.
And frankly, the onus is on you children to seek out information. I literally found the above link on my own with no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ problem. TWI is not responsible for any of you being so immature and lazy as to not check ALL available sites and resources for information, nor do they owe you direct linkage to it. All the info you need is right at your fingertips, so grow the ♥♥♥♥ up and stop acting so damn helpless all the time.
But I will say, I am curious why the vertical popup and phasing through objects hardly gets any attention.
When an entire crowd of zeds skips the long walk up stairs to zip up a wall, then clip through a guard rail so close to the ceiling you couldn't get over it without crouch jumping, that is much more jarring. Both visually, and in how much it screws you over with positioning and planning.
However, I finally figured out why people hate bad teleports more. You can't see the vertical pop if you are sprinting in the opposite direction of the enemy.
See, that's something that makes sense, if a zed such as a crawler or stalker went back into a vent or sewer grate or whatever to crawl back out somewhere else a few moments later, that's cool and I'm good with that.
Stalkers and crawlers have had their own special spawn points to simulate just such out of view movements and that sort of behavior would work for them.
It's basically everything else doing it which is the problem.
Agreed. More interaction from TWI on the subject would be extremely beneficial. Even if it's just putting out their reasoning behind the teleporting and explaining why they believe it should be in the game and how it is supposed to work(as opposed to how it currently works).
Frankly, a bunch of us have looked and consider the extremely limited responses on the subject coming from TWI to be lacking. Congrats, you've linked a single line post from TWI about it. You might find that to be satisfactory, however we do not. We have what can, at least in my opinion, very valid questions about it. Why is there Zed teleporting? What function is it supposed to fill? How is it supposed to work? Why not replace it with something else?
Those are some pretty good questions that have not been addressed at all.
How does it work? Cat_Is_Fine_Too on Reddit helps with that (but with some severe grammatical issues)
https://www.reddit.com/r/killingfloor/comments/35tbuf/some_info_about_zed_teleportation/
Why? It was designed as a means to avoid instances where players would be stuck looking for straggling zeds to end the round. It's also an alternative pathfinding method.
Is it a good one? Not a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bit. WIll it get "tweaked" or removed? Yep. TWI made it clear things were being reworked.
Again, all information that's easy as ♥♥♥♥ to find. I found the Reddit thread seconds into writing this response. So again, some of you need to grow up and learn how to find out information before having a hissy fit. Not you, Bud, as I've yet to see you be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on here. So for that I'm grateful. I hope this post answers some of your questions and I hope you spread that info to others.
That all being said, nothing, NOTHING justifies necroing SEVERAL threads and spamming the forums.
I too fail to see their response as being lacking. Once again, this is a SMALL team of people, doing a great job. There have been many instances where this sort of thing has arisen, during Red Orc 2 there was a major issue (I forget what it was exactly) and everyone was up in arms.
In the end John Gibson addressed the issue, and others in a letter to the community, I suggest giving it a read.
http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?t=54755
This all over again, seriously, the reason most TWI fans roll their eyes at threads like this is because it happens EVERY time.
The main reason they respond little, is because they are in the GRIND, they are a small very pro group of people who REFUSED to move out of their home state and city. If they are leaving responses up to their TWI Forum mods and Comm Manager, its because they are hard at work.
Its very well known, that they dont deal with Steam forums, its once again not because they dont care, they just dont have the resources or time.
Just like in the case above, issues were being resolved, it was just either a lack of time, nothing to really report, or the fact they were still working it that they didnt respond.
Despite that a lot of the time, those same Comm managers and mods are filtering data back to the powers that be.
This is why I refuse to pass judgement until I see what they have planned, we are FAR from the completed game.
I would just like to add that the idea of only teleporting certain zeds is interesting. I put forward an idea a page or two back that was spammed away of balancing the issue for different difficulties/maps. A combination of this sort of thing might be a good idea/possibly already in motion.
dark_bud: We already know why it was implemented, Fireking reiterated it one page ago so I wont bother. How it is meant to work is pretty obvious, and the lack of communication, I am pretty dang certain will be due to what I've said here, not because they dont care.
Going to end this post with a current gag from the TWI forums..
"btw, not sure if you devs heard this yet, but teleporting zeds could use some attention"
I was the one who put forward the topic title change on that. I feel soooo ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ special right now.
And since they already have our money, they dont care about our opinions anymore
But they will when the word of mouth gets around and this game dies off.
So much for Early Access being the time to gather feedback and make the game the best it can be
"I too also believe that Tripwire choose to ignore all feedback on the most complained about element of the game. Since they obviously don't want to sell more copies of the game, they are going to ignore the feedback already provided.
Then people will spread the word and the game will die. So much for Early Access and feedback systems, because Tripwire obviously don't want to make a decent game"
See how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid that sounds?
Tripwire have acknowledged that TP'ing is being looked at. Check their forums. Use search. Stop making PLAINLY WRONG ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ statements.
Zed Teleport - Revamp this system so that it serves the intended purpose, without breaking the illusion (too much)
Zed Spawn Sounds - Looking at ways to deal with the fact that some people love them, others hate them
Player Grab - Looking at ways to deal with the fact that some people love it, others hate it
Circle Strafing - We need to react to the fact that it is really exploity, non-exciting gameplay
Large Zed (and boss) Gameplay - Refining this in general to make it more obviously skill-based and exciting
Communications - Increase available options
Don't know about you but i think they are looking into a lot of things.
Also i know this WWAUT update was ages ago but it's still relevant.
I should just give up on these boards. Becasue people aren't handed information on demand on a silver platter, it's obviously being "ignored".
Random: I think these forums are making me stupiderer.
I always wear an Anti-Stupid hat before i browse the Steam Forums.
Don't go here. Problem solved. If you willingly read these posts, you can't complain you don't like reading them.
Where can I purchase said hat? Do you have a spare I could buy from you?
