You guys fixing your EULA yet?
I really want to buy KF2, but your current EULA is just inexcusable.

We have the right to stop you from acting in a manner we don't like, regardless if it's your server
"We also will not tolerate anyone using the game, or any servers or forums provided for the game, to be continually or repeatedly abusive to other players. This includes, but is not limited to, "griefing", racist bigotry, sexism or any other forms of "cyber bullying".

We must approve all your mods, we dont want anything we consider obscene
"Your Mods must not contain any sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive imagery"

I understand that RO2 was a terrible launch, and you didn't like those guys who were running that server talking smack about you, but I really hope you guys don't inlcude this in Killing Floor 2.

PS: I still play Ro2

The game's not even released yet they're just covering their own behinds.
Name one instance where they actually banned anyone yet for "cyber bullying".

Or name ANYone who actually got banned for violating EULA period.

You can't right?

You must not follow RO2.
They made this rule SPECIFICALLY for one server in particular talking maaad trash about TWI.
And yes, yes they did.

Also, what kind of retarded logic are you running here?
"Well they aint dun nothing yet, so quit ur bellyaching"
That's some NSA level compliance ♥♥♥♥ right there.

Except I almost have 500 hours.

Your point?

Don't bite the hand that feeds you? Why would they want trolls playing their game if all they're going to do is be innappropriate?

Comparing TWI to the NSA... lol just lol

There is some trash talk in KF but you can easily filter them if they get annoying, i've had more problems with douche bag admins banning people for just joining than bigot players in game.

Pretty much this, like I said, they're just covering their own rear.

This way they get to ban sh*tty admins and their servers if they're not up to snuff, you don't actually own the game, you own a license to the game, and they can deny that license to you if they so please because it's their intellectual property, i'm not going to get in depth but there's more to it than some paranoid conspiracy OP is implying.

I found it weird because what OP wrote is the complete opposite of what KF is like. There's servers up to this day that i'm banned for life from joining because admin abused his powers, it
s extremely annoying because its HoE servers and not many people play it now on KF.

Honestly I wish more companies did that, got rid of sh*tty servers and sh*tty hosts because they're not giving the game a good name, if anything companies nowadays don't even ban hackers because they want them to keep playing their game.

It's a fine line honestly as far as server hosts are concerned. Hosting a server in many games is expensive, and in a game where hosted servers are completely and utterly necessary for players to enjoy the game at all (such as for Killing Floor), developers need to make sure they run.

They can either do so by hosting them all themselves, but this becomes financially difficult without a high stream of incoming revenue. Or they can let random individuals host their own servers, saving the developers money.

However, in the case that they allow server hosts to run servers on their game that save them money, I feel like the developers have an obligation to allow them to run their server the way that they wish. Obviously this should be within reason, but restricting certain forms of behavior from servers that you yourself are not willing to pay for seems a bit restrictive to me.

Basically, server administrators have to put in a lot of time and money into running a server for a game like Killing Floor. They deserve to be treated well, and as long as they aren't somehow cheating the game system or similar (being ranked somehow but cheating the system for example) no behavior should get them in trouble with the developers.

After all, if a player has a problem playing on a particular server they are fully capable of joining another server at any time. This can be a problem if they get banned from many of the popular servers, or if the population of a game starts to die off, but even this can be fixed by having a small selection of official servers for players affected by this.

Well, it also isn't nearly as big of a problem in a game like Killing Floor, and probably won't be in KF2, where there are tons of servers due to the fact that you only can fit six players on each one.

I suppose the other side of this argument would be that the developers have the right to decide who can host their servers, and this isn't entirely without merit. The main reason this becomes tricky is due to the fact that developers who decide to let others run servers NECESSARY for the survival of their game are reliant on these server hosts footing the bill.

If most of the servers were official servers, and only a small selection of the servers with a minority of the player base were private servers, this policy would make more sense - but if the vast majority of servers end up being run by third parties, then Tripwire is so reliant on their existence that I feel they need to be respectful towards the investment that these people make. That includes giving them leeway when concerning their behavior.

I'm guessing (and hoping) that these are preventive measurs for extreme cases. Such as a player following another from server to server and constantly stalking/harssing the victim or a server admin making those who come into his server download nazi skin packs.

That said, the broad wording of the second one does leave me a bit worried about the possibility of Tripwire going full morality police. If someone wants to make an anime bikini girl or a dated caricature and throw it on the workshop there shouldn't be any problem with that. It's not being forced upon others.

This isn't gonna be a deal-breaker for me, I'm almost certianly gonna buy this on release day, but I really humbly implore gearbox not to overly abuse their power here.

Doesn't work, if the admin only wanted friends on his server he should set it to private. Now if a group of players joins one of the two servers on HoE that i'm banned from i can't play HoE. Yes join another empty server on HoE when the majority of players are unwilling to play HoE on a decade old game -_- read my post again, there needs a balance and a system in place to contact TWI for admin abuse, if the server gets 3 strikes ban them for life.

I am curious as to why exactly you were banned from the servers? If it was multiple servers, I find it hard to believe each one had an admin abusing their powers for the fun of it.

On topic, I 100% support Tripwire wanting to curb the rampant racism and sexism that clings to online gaming like a plague. Keep it all in private, passworded servers if you want to discuss your next Klan meeting.

One of them i joined i was kicked, i rejoined to ask why i was kicked and then i was immediately banned for life. The other one i closed a door in admins face on the way to trader and he banned me for life. You sound like a server owner yourself being apologetic for bad behaviour, it's one for abusive players to get the boot i'm fine with that, it's another just to ban someone because you're abusive with your privilidge rights, should be one rule for both sides or you're not being fair.

Server owners often don't have five people to play with every single time they are getting online in a game like this, so they will make it public. That does not mean they are under any obligation to accept whoever they want on their server.

In my experience as well, the vast majority of people who claim to be banned from servers without a valid reason are full of ♥♥♥♥. Some server owners do indeed abuse their authority, but most tend to just mind their own business and as long as you do not go out of your way to offend them will not bother banning you.

Just find some friends and servers that you enjoy playing with and on. If you can't do this, that's not the fault of the server owners who do not wish to play with you or to be associated with you. If the game is dying off and it is difficult to find a server due to your bans, that's unfortunate, but expecting Tripwire to prioritize your experience over that of everyone else and over the server owners who pay money to rent their servers is ridiculous to me.

If you truly have a problem with being banned on private servers, rent your own server or play on an "official" server. Or switch servers. You have plenty of options, and it is disingenuous to act as though you do not. I don't find that whining to the developers is one of those valid options, however.

Also i don't care if they fund servers they should not have special rights or above reproach just because they have money, abusive players also bought the game, both have money staked in the game, but abuse shouldn't be tolerated from both sides.
