Duplicate UID ?
I shut down the game after that Bug splat (3rd party Software tripwire uses) crashed .. Now my ID is stuck online when I am not in any server. So renders me unable to join

You have to wait a bit until your name disappears or disconnect from the server completely. I had that same situation.

what I did was wait 5 min then the server dissconnects you and you're ready to go back in

If you're playing with friends, you can use steam overlay's 'view game info' to refresh that server fast. Usually shows something like 4/6 players but only 3 names - the 4th likely being your old connection lingering. You can then repeatedly hit refresh until the player count suddenly drops by one without a name disappearing - then you're able to rejoin.
