So, objective mode has story elements...
It would be nice to know some things like when does each objective scenario happen, who is dr ogada buyu, why does she need the info in those tablet like things and what kind of information do they have, where does this dr comes from, how do the characters know her, what is her complete dialogue during each wave of each map, if what she says is important like when she mentions a daughter, who apparently shots the dr at the end of zedlanding objective map, what caused the plane crash in that same map, does her name is important because it says about her origins or is it some sort of anagram, what does she wants from Horzine and if the info que wants us to secure has some sense in the hands of zed clones (i mean, what are they going to do? Learn how to use the trader pods or how to get rid of them so the characters dont use them?). This some of the things that come to mind from some details i get from playing. Maybe not every dialogue or little stuff is worth analizyng but it would be nice to have some real story. I said this in a post before and i just got a video where the zeds where clones because someone wanted them and they were released from the facility where they were kept just because "the world needs to know". It would be great to know who the people that released the zeds are or if they are even alive or if they have some importance at this point.

The reason i say this is because this game doesnt have a good potential to tell a story because of the nature of the game. FPS are inherently told from a gun or at least lots of them. The main interaction a player has with this kind of games are through shots or pressing a button and i think KF is restricted because of its own nature. The developers even said it in one of the developers diaries videos posted in their youtube channel. The player interaction is performed with a gun and that gives less to work with when you want to be flexible and add different features, in this case objective mode. The fact that the story told in the objective maps its just there like a recording raising more questions and the players with the inhability to have answers is what makes me think about this, is what makes me demand answers and maybe there will be (i hope). I like KF, its really cool but i guess I'll play it untill i see if it goes beyond the Macguffin

Tripwire don't care about story line in Killing Floor. They are now busy on their new game about sharks.
Santa Workshop does the same thing as this "New" Objective mode. Has mandatory objectives after the first area, new voice overs and the "Story elements" the new update claims to have, but is categorized as "Survival" .

Objective mode itself contradicts what the developers said before about the game : they want the players to create a story themselves when playing the Survival mode. Basically some imaginations and RNG with encounters and in-game physics. So now we get a fully "Objective" mode that does not only says "Just kill them all" .

I'm pretty sure that has its own team?

I don't remember the devs ever saying that, and many people have been asking for objective mode since EA.

As for the game's story potential, it's very much there as the original KFM's campaign, KF1's final objective map Transit, the entirety of KF:Incursion, and several bits of KF2's more suttle storytelling(certain character voice lines, the premise of maps like Evac Point, etc.). You wouldn't know it of course because apparently the writers decided to just ignore everything that's been set up and go down some random new path.

Instead of having this Dr. Buyu having us poke around Zed Landing for Horzine's info, we could have Colin from KFI coming to us for help. Instead of Buyu guiding us through Outpost, We could have Rachel Clamely sending us in to retrieve data to aid in the war.
Don't bother, the mode has no balance at all. Just you get spammed with Zeds. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mode right now.
I don't like how the summer zeds still have no new quotes, those who never got quotes like the Crawler and others that have not got the same treatment. When bosses spawn on Objective I usually expect them to speak dialogue about what the Horizine team was doing like in Outpost when Patriarch (Kevin's other clone probably) giving a reason to attack us during wave 7/8. No zed dialogue is what really gives a dead vibe to no story element. I also want Rachel to come back to be playable and part of Kevin's story of progression towards the outbreak.
I'm with you about wanting to know more about the story behind Dr. Buyu. Unfortunately, I think we are in the minority. It seems like the KF developers and the KF community at large doesn't care much because even the fan wiki hasn't bothered to have a page about it. Don't blame the genre though. Halo and Half-Life would like a word about the ability of FPSs to have great stories.
