Error on start. "A new guard page for the stack cannot be created."
Every time I try to run theswapper.exe it gives me this error "A new guard page for the stack cannot be created." I run Windows 7 x64 with an AMD Radeon HD 6900M video card. I have not been able to test out some of the posted fixes because the game never loads and therefore never creates (or uses) the "CommonSettings.pro" file. I suspect it's not a video card issue.

Here is my trueenginelog.txt contents

I had this same thing on my 6990. After they updated it a week or so ago I don't get that error anymore, it just closes the game as soon as I start it without any error message.

There seems to be a problem with your .net framework installation. Could you please try downloading and installing the full .net 4.0 framework on your computer from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=17851.

It tells me that I've already installed the .net framework. I've not had problems with any other software that uses that framework, so I'm hesitant to think that's my issue.

I've previously had issues with a .net framework installation looking seemingly fine but being broken under the surface. There are also two versions of the 4.0 framework, Client Profile and Full. Client profile doesn't contain System.Design which isn't needed by all applications so I suspect this might be the problem.

I'm having the same problem as OP, game won't even launch. I ran the full .net 4.0 framework installer and it gave me the option to repair or remove. I did a repair and the problem persists.

I think I managed to remove any dependencies on System.Design on the latest update. Could you check if this is still causing issues?

After the latest patch it crashes and opens the bugreporter instead of just crashing with no message

For anyone else having this problem I managed to fix it by using a dotnet framework clean up tool found at https://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/08/28/8904493.aspx?Redirected=true

After completely removing all instances of the .net framework, restarting, and then reinstalling it fresh the game loaded without incident.

Glad to hear you managed to fix it!

Being a developer myself, I tend to call it .net-Shamework not without a reason... ;)

Simple reset your PC to factory settings block all updates from Microsoft stop windows defender permanently and use a 3rd party antivirus only and don't use Microsoft edge. This should fix the problem also stop any service that is running in the task manager that's from Microsoft such as if you open settings for windows the application service starts in the task manager just go back there and stop it. I get these errors only when I update windows 10 from factory settings of windows 10 and just download what I need and want from they're sites to update manually. Since My PC is dedicated for gaming then I only install software updates from microsoft that will improve gaming experience not they're other junk updates. Microsoft knows only how to break things with each update its up to you if you want to play they're game.
