There's generally no "best X for Y", as only small amount of warframes has a synergy going on, that incentivizes them to go one certain path (exceptions are frames such as Excalibur, who benefit from having longsword type weapons on). Mesa is a gunslinger and benefits from having guns, but it doesn't really matter what guns - only her ability that takes into consideration your ranged damage is her 1.

You're not a pleb because you're using bows. Depends on what mastery rank you are and what you're looking for (Primary/secondary, type of the weapon i.e. LMG/automatic/semi-auto/shotgun/sniper/etc.) What would you like to find?

Mesa has improved proficiency when using secondary weapons, and gains a health bonus at the expense of not having a melee weapon. The following are the passive bonus available to Mesa:

+10% fire rate with dual wielded sidearms.
+20% reload speed for one handed sidearms.
+50 health when a melee weapon is not equipped (value unaffected by base or total health).

This was taken from the wikia. Losing a melee might be troublesome at some point, careful.

Oh my! I completely forgot about it. Well, who's a fool here now. (Though, in my defense, Mesa had more stats associated with gunslinging and half of them were cut out completely, so I just remembered the fact that she lost her passives).

About good guns for your level. Here's list of what might interest you: Vulkar, Rubico, Opticor, Sybaris, Lanka, Vectis (and prime), Attica, Dread, Paris Prime - those are either snipers, bows or semi-automatic. All of them are very, very good.

About secondary - marelok is a great pistol, but you might wanna get yourself Vaykor Marelok or Lex Prime, as those are just absolutely powerhouses. Also suit the theme of Mesa. Akmagnus is also a great and stylish weapon. (I'm aiming here for more conventional sniper-ish pistols).

I'd suggest visiting this page[warframe.wikia.com] and looking for weapons I listed to learn about them more in-depth.

try toxicyst on the side arm, its not that good if you dont put rate of fire mod tho.. but still the buff for 6 sec make the peacemaker go wild :)

Be aware of her passives as posted above, but don't force yourself to go without a melee weapon for the +50 health, regardless of what "pro players" say, having a melee weapon can be much more helpful than a little more HP depending on what enemies you're facing.

You also need to take into consideration the fact that frames like Mesa, Excalibur, and Valkyr who technically have a "weapon" in their 4th ability gain bonuses to said abilities from certain mods in their related weapons. (Excalibur with Melee weapons and Mesa with Secondaries)

In this case, for Mesa the best weapon would be a secondary that you can mod easily to have high fire rate and high crit rate.

Currently in the meta the Dual Toxocyst is what everyone tells you to use because of it's special ability wherein if you headshot an enemy with it, your fire rate dramatically increases for a few seconds (this buff actually lasts as long as your energy does if you stay in her Peacemaker mode). Nailing this weapon buff and having the weapon itself properly modded, Mesa can whip out her peacemakers and easily kill level 135+ Juggernauts in only 3-4 seconds.

So to shorten it down, for a DPS Mesa, all you really need to do is mod her for Strength, Efficiency, and Duration forgetting Range, then slap a good secondary on her that allows for high fire rate and high crit chance, it doesn't necessarily have to be the dual toxocyst.

If you want a CC'ing and Survivability Mesa, just mod her for as much range as humanly possible while keeping efficiency and duration as high as you can. With that, all you have to do is turn on Shooting Gallery (her 2) and suddenly almost all the enemies you're fighting will become target practice. For extra protection Shatter Shield (her 3) will reduce damage from projectile sources.
