I found it pretty alright when I first started, but a lot has changed since then and it does fall off pretty hard it seems. Still, give each weapon a try and find the ones you like, as well as the ones that are good. Use the good ones for the hard stuff and the rest for everything else. Dump a catalyst and enough forma into some thing and just about anything can be pretty good. Usually.

The Kohm and the Ignis open at that rank, too. The Kohm is good at any mastery level, and the ignis might be a great temporary farming weapon for you if you're mostly invested in rifle primary mods.
