Where is it? I've looked everywhere for it. Well apperently not but you get the idea.

I haven't been able to find it yet either, but I did pick up the key.

The Key is under a Closet in his room, just beside the door ;)
Maybe you have to change cam-angel to see it!
But where is the chest for the key?

The chest is in a small building near the church.

The chest is in the mortician's hut which is just north of the Cyseal east portal. There is a funky lightning trap protecting the room. I just kept walking through the stuns until I disabled the trap with the switch.

I know that in the enhanced version the key to the ornate chest in theylon's room is under the chest itself. Not sure about in classic though. The secret key opens another chest.
