Might never come :(
It better become available on Steam. With GOG, Steam and my hardcopies it's hard enought to keep track...

Macintosh has come a long way, but this is the soul reason I stuck with building a windows operating system. Compatibility. If a game is great and you want to play it, odds are it won't run on a Mac. ):

I'm not sure what you mean. They both will use the same game engine and (once BGEE is updated) the updated UI (there will be a colouring difference but thats about it). Otherwise they are two different games (different party members in many cases, new main questline/story, tons of side quests, different items, etc).

BG2EE will just continue off from the story of BG/BGEE (both for the main character and the new NPC's introduced in BGEE)

The Baldur's Gate series is an old time classic, and the Enhanced Editions are re-releasing them with some improvements. BGEE is the original Baldur's Gate and the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion for it. BG2EE is the sequel, Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn and it's Throne of Bhaal expansion.

BG2EE won't just be an upgrade to BGEE. It's a complete sequel. You can import your character from BGEE over and continue playing as him, and characters like Minsc and Imoen will appear in BG2EE as well.
