Broken Achievements

The "You Chose Poorly" and end-game achievements are still broken, after months... I know people have navigated the torture of the beamdog forums to post about them, so why is Beamdog in no hurry to fix them? >_<

I have recently finished BG, but haven't got the Hero of Baldur's Gate achievement. Is this a known bug?

Known by whom? All I can tell is that some players have had to reload a saved game and retry multiple times to get a few achievements. It is as if something in the game interferes with the Steam communication sometimes or interrupts the internal achievements scripts. Only one achievement has been reported as being completely broken for everyone, and that is "Grim Deeds to Come" (from Siege of Dragonspear). The only other one that doesn't work for me (but a few other players have managed to get it many weeks ago) is "You Chose... Poorly" (I only get the journal entry related to it, but never the achievement).

not sometimes... you can try over and over and over and over and over and over to get "You chose poorly", for days on end and still not get it *bitter laugh here*, and "Grim Deeds to come" also never works... they're broken, no doubt about it.

Update: someone (an admin maybe?) edited my post on redmine, specifically deleting content about Grim Deeds to Come, and concentrated on You Chose...

He sent a savegame, with step by step instructions, saying it should unlock. It didn't. Dusted off EE Keeper when I realised chat interface using T binding didn't work, and checked. ACH_YOU_CHOSE doesn't appear, not even with variable set to 0. Poster on redmine said it should be set to 1 when obtained. Tried editing it in with EE Keeper, just for the heck of it, not expecting it to work... it didn't. T_T

yay! EEKeeper edit on Grim Deeds worked, now all that's left for a perfect game is You Chose...! tyvm, Julius! =^_^=

ok! No popup, but the fix thread totally fixed and got me the last achievement (you chose...)! Go to the thread, dl and run the modmerge like it says, then dl and run the fixes file like it says, then open your console and type the 2 commands like it says... and voila! TYVM, Julius, for finally helping us with these problems! Baldurs Gate 1 & 2 are easily best games of all time, and it was rlly rlly upsetting to have 2 always-broken achievements! ty ty ty! =^_^=
