Can I play it on Linux in the near future?

The promo video looks pretty fun :)

I doubt it since they are a small dev.
Yeah, during the Kickstarter campaign Linux and Mac ports were long term stretch goals. The Kickstarter campaign failed though, and they had to secure funding in other ways, probably putting Linux support even farther away in the future. Hopefully if the game sells well enough they'll be able to afford making a Linux port of it.

Retrovirus was coded in XNA, a wrapper for DirectX and will be Windows only.
Most are porting XNA to the open source Mono frame set from what I hear.

Not good news :(
Considering SteamOS, I think it would be wise to re-evaluate porting the code off of XNA - as XNA is End of Life unless you've moved on from Retrovirus all together.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cadenzainteractive/retrovirus Mac, Linux was mentioned in the (failed) kickstarter as possibility if significantly more money could be raised... So, now its not worth it anymore? :rshocked:
You can port games using XNA to Linux now (Monogame). And some skilled porters can do it really well.

I've been considering buying this game a long time ago, but I'm sad to see there is still no Linux version. What a shame! :rfacepalm: Good luck to the devs though.

Wasn't MonoGame the Cross-Platform version of either .Net 4 or XNA 4, might be worth a look @dev.
