Serious Sam Classics: Revolution

Serious Sam Classics: Revolution

EAX is such a game changer.
Damn. I just turned on EAX audio because I have a Creative card and Alchemy and woah, what a blast from the past! The audio detail is insane. Such as the music changing between interior and exterior buildings and the same going for all kinds of sounds. Being below a waterfall or in a hall sounds exactly like that with all its reverb glory. It is not comparable at all to the standard Directsound output.

Makes you think why modern games rarely have such features. Nowadays everything just uses default Windows sound output or directsound or whatever but so much more could be possible on the PC. Shame EAX was scrapped because of Microsoft.

Believe it or not but I would rather play the Classics than the new HD remakes because of EAX alone. The immersion is on a different level.

big reason why I like the original version is the gravity lvls
You can still get EAX in HD, BFE and Fusion by switching to OpenAL (type sfx_iAPI = 1 in the console).

Cool to hear, gonna try it out when I play these games again.
I have Sound BlasterX G6 and EAX is not working, even with Alchemy. I dont know why.

Make sure it is installed correctly (the dsound.dll file installed by Alchemy should be located in the /Bin folder).

dsound.dll and dsound.ini is in /Bin folder, but when i'm trying to turn EAX on i got Eax ERROR: Cannot query property support
I also have the G6 and it works fine here. Maybe try completely reinstalling your sound driver together with the alchemy software. They recently changed to Sound Blaster Command. Also make sure your G6 firmware is up to date.

Maybe. I'm using Sound Blaster Command too, firmware version is 2.1.201208.1030, driver version is 1.16.4.26.

Windows 10 Pro. I will re-install driver and software and then come back with the results.
No success. I'm using Creative Alchemy Universal, and nothing helps, still not working in Serious Sam. Just dark magic things.

Same method for Revolution? As whenever I switch it to EAX, it sets itself to default afterwards, so, do you have to use that command in Revolution too?

No, different engines.

Oh, thanks for the quick answer.
For Revolution you have to use Creative ALchemy to restore EAX functionality.

Classics and Revolution need DirectSound wrapper, i use DSOAL for them.
