I guess you could launch it for the convenience of having FE and SE available in the same place, but if you wanna go that route I'd more recommend getting the Xbox version mod for SE, which is the superior edition of the FE and SE imo
Personally, I do not find the xbox versions so "superior" I like their style and weapons, but they have a crapy life system that throws all difficulties overboard.
I like the revolution for the convenience of having mods on hand easier (the xbox mod) and I like the customization options it has. And also it does not have the muzzle flash screwed up like in the originals.
I like the styles of PC and Xbox for different reasons but imo the aesthetic of Serious Sam hit its sweet spot around SS1 Xbox / Next Encounter
My last FE playthrough had over 1000 saves because I'm really meticulous about not wasting health or ammo
Lives can make the game easier, but they dont reset to the state of the game prior to death, they just drop you back in the action, making hard saves more valuable
It is kind of bizarre that SS1 has lives though since the Xbox had a hard drive and you could basically make infinite saves
When I say it, it's not an insult. If it were I'd be insulting myself and I don't see anything wrong with save scumming. Serious difficulty would likely be too tedious for me without it
The lives system leaves you in the place you died, but minus any ammo you already used up and other things. A hard save lets you go back to before you screwed up. That makes saving more useful than a lives system to me
Though the invincibility of the lives system can be exploited to do things like take out large amounts of marsh hoppers

This is where I found it
It's in Russian but shouldn't be hard to navigate
There's a patch that's supposed to fix the cutscene videos, but I never bothered installing it to see if it works
It seems to be permanently unfinished, and since it's been nearly 20 years since I played the Xbox version I can't say if it's 100% accurate to the console version or not
