Same problem here. While i respect the work put into this whole piece of software, I also know that i could reconstruct it by myself as an excel sheet in about 1-2 hours. Should be priced at about 30 bucks imho...

While I don't want to sabotage you, I'm pretty sure I could do it in that time. Just explained it to a friend today and made up a quick concept in excel to show him the basic ideas. After 20 Minutes i hade the sheet for planning your budget pretty much up and running. I even built in a "money left from last month", that I'm missing in your current version.

However, will buy i guess. I just don't use selfmade stuff as much because I have no feeling of worth for it. The price will still keep me from really recommending it more =\

Did your Excel version support multiple accounts? Does it support transactions split between many categories? Transfers between accounts? Rollover between months - both for savings and overspending - and both in categories and for general funds? Does it support Cloud Sync? Local WiFi sync? Does it talk to mobile apps with GPS functionality? Does it produce reports with pretty graphs?

And perhaps more importantly, does it come with awesome support, free online live classes, and a great user support forum?

I don't doubt you're a wiz at Excel, but most people can sum up cell values in a spreadsheet. And if you are able to make an Excel version that comes close to YNAB (not counting support), I'll bet you have to spend more than a couple of hours. How much is your time worth?

With all due respect, your Excel version is not YNAB.

I do want to point out that you can use the method just fine in Excel - the first version of YNAB was an Excel spreadsheet. It's definitely moved past that now though :)

As for sales, there are none planned in the near future, I'm afraid.

That's a very gauche question to ask. If it's worth it then buy it. I wish I would of bought it when it was on sale but I didn't know about it then. I'm glad it became available on Steam or I would have never heard about this program. I'm two months in, and I am more aware of how much money I'm spending on video games!

I easily cut my "stupid game expenses" in half by now since I have to note each and every one. Steam is killing its own business here.

On the other hand I finally got my appartment furnituring done and am now on my way to put aside some money for my first motorbike. I don't know where all my money went until 2 months ago but it seems I'm able to put aside a lot of money now even though I'm planning ahead for upcoming bills and even have a rainy day funt.

Might be the best software buy ever for me.

How is that a gauche question? Part of having a budget is learning to be thrifty. Why spend money now when you know you'll save money by waiting until tomorrow? I don't see any problem in asking.

I did purchase it and I have been very happy with it. Have been very impressed with the syncing. My PC to both mine and my wifes macs, and my android and her iphone too. Brilliant.
