PS Both theses authors AI only traffic are save file benign and friendly.
Using the g_traffic multiplier is not a good way to go as it multiplies everything. Mods are the best way to go, you can even edit them to your own needs once you understand the very easy process .

in-game there is a parameter in config.cfg. g_traffic which can be modified with a text editor or on the fly via the console. It changess the overall amount of AI traffic from 0.0 (no traffic at all) to 10.0 (extremely insane taffic jam). I 've rread that circa 2.0 is considered fairly realistic.

Even the updated version by peter pan causes ctd's for a great many players myself included.
