FPS ?
hi guys, i'm a little concerned about the number of FPS i get in game, for example i have almost everything set to medium in the graphics section of the game and i'm getting around 60-70 fps does that sound about right ?

my system is an Alienware M17 R4
Geforce GTX 1070
Intel Core I7-6820HK CPU @2.70ghz
15.87 Gb Ram
i've absloutly no idea what any of that means above :steamfacepalm:

Any Help would be really appreciated
Thanks

Native resolution is 2560 x 1440

I've always seen cooling pads as a bit of a gimmick. Try just propping your laptop on something to help with getting air in to it. Assuming the air intake area is on the underside that is.
Unfortunately this gimmick will provide -10 degrees or more in temp drop .

The main benefit comes from not blocking your intakes. Trying to blow more air in to a fan system does hardly anything, a couple of degrees at most. You'd need something that actually lowers the air temperature. All the coolers I've seen are just fans, not refrigerators. Propping a laptop on something to allow airflow under the laptop has about the same effect.

And you have tested them ? I have multiple brands types and sizes . I know how well some do and dont . But hey dont believe the guy tha tests hardware , to each thier own .

I'll choose to believe my own understanding of thermodynamic principles. You simply cannot achieve 10 degrees drop in temp by blowing air over a laptop unless the cooling solution in the laptop was terrible to begin with and the laptop itself becomes the heatsink.

It might work on Mac books or budget laptops. It's not going to work on something like my MSI GT72 or their Alienware M17 that already has a large (by laptop standards) dual fan cooling system.

Turns out some of that might need a revision. Did a bit of research in to that particular Alienware model and there's a common problem with the build quality / manufacturing process. Many users reported CPU temps of 100C under load and consequently throttling. Worse, Dell say this is "normal".

Good news is it can be fixed in most cases but you need to strip it down, repaste and possibly make some modifications. Doing this typically drops the load temps to the 60-70C range under full load, which is normal.
