why is this game not multiplayer
just wondering why? is that something your looking into?

the game's in alpha so a lot of the features aren't in yet. that being said, the devs are most likely gonna add multiplayer post release since they said that's what they'll do after the game's released.

To be honest, the game has a lot of potential. and the ship-buiding part can be really fun. there are a few bare-bones missions up too. games gotten better since I first got it.

it sure does have potential. gravity effects would be cool ... is it possible to get caught in planets gravity, is it possible to crash into planets. would be cool if ship was captured and burnt up by atmosphere reentry.

i think if you get too close to a planet, your ship does get destroyed... however, a gravity effect with the being caught in the planet's field isn't able to be done IIRC... hey can a Dev or Dakill come in an explain this stuff to David? You guys would be better at explaining this stuff.
I think carriers have been connfirmed to be brought in at some point which makes me happy.

thanks for the input fellas. are planets gonna be populated (will you be able to interact with races) can they (planets) be destroyed. will there be cosmic events in the game, say ... sun collapsing, E.L.E and such

to be honest, i dont know, as i've said, a Dev or that Dakill guy would be better to ask. I think one of the sticky's on the general discussions page says what they're planing on adding between now and release though.

Our game is still in development, we want core mechanics to be sound prior to launch, then after the game is launched fully we will look at the feasibility of multi-player. At this time we are using docking stations around planets, you will not be able to land your ship on a planet. That's a whole different realm of exploration (maybe an expansion someday...just my thoughts, not confirmed by my team at this time).

Planets are considered static and will not have any orbit. As for a gravity, adding a gravity effect would add a lot of calculations onto the game, and as none of the Dev are physicians (or whatever it is called) the needed calculation might be a lot of work to just try to inplement.

All of the ships are not made for re-entry of planets and this, will suffer heavy damage or death, if they try to do so.

For interaction, most planets interaction will be done via their station orbiting them. Things like blockade and bombard will however not need the station (from what I've heard). They will have an immediate effect on the faction who owns the planet.

As for events, I know LT stated he wanted to add some to the game, but which one and when is unknown to me.

As for carriers, they will be part of the game. You will have 2 kind of hangers, drones and fighter. Drones being smaller than fighter, you will be able to use your own fighter design. However, since stone are lower than the smallest size (size 1) and are considered one piece, you will no be able to design them. You will be able to give different roles to each drone/fighter (things like defending or mining).

As for the multiplayer, the Devs want to add this I the game, but a it is not a core function, it will be post-release. Depending on how much funding/profit they make, the multiplayer expansion might come freest at a low price. As for how they will handle it, LT is aiming or a system similar I what minecraft uses, meaning a server client is needed to run the server and then everyone can just join. (This is actually the easiest way to make a multiplayer).

thanks for the info. pretty sweet game so far, looking forward to finished product. now i just gotta put my subsystems into effect. i think the words you were looking for was rocket scientists :) agreed on multiplayer avenue.
