Hegemony Rome: The Rise of Caesar

Hegemony Rome: The Rise of Caesar

Changelog Update Version 29586 – 02/20/2014
As you might have already noticed, the first patch for Hegemony Rome: The Rise of Caesar is now live.

This is mostly a technical patch to fix crashes and bugs that were preventing people from playing. There is a new 32 bit version that reduces some of the detail levels (map, textures, sounds) in order to fit within the memory limit. This version will start automatically on 32 bit machines, but if anyone on a 64 bit machine wants to play it there is a batch file in the hegemony folder called 'launch32.bat'

In addition to the bug fixes, we made a few adjustments to gameplay based on some of your feedback. These are largely experiments right now and there will be lot's more to come, but we'd love to hear what you think. Most notably, we've reduced supply consumption significantly so that units can now last about twice as long outside of resupply range as they could before. We've also implemented some new morale bonuses so that units who start off in combat with low morale can improve it through victory.

Here's the official changelog for the latest build:

  • Added support for 32-bit versions of Windows
  • Fixed several issues causing game crashes
  • Fixed unpausing issue when loading savegames
  • Fixed white circle display bug when removing cavalry from Genava
  • Added circle tags for generals, routing units and units in cities
  • Reduced food consumption.
  • Reduced morale drop when units are out of food.
  • Added more morale bonuses/penalties during combat (when nearby friendly/enemy units are defeated)
  • Fixed problems with graphic configurations
  • Fixed UI not resizing properly on aspect ratio change
  • General bugfixes and gameplay adjustments

Thanks everyone for their input and keep up your enthusiasm!

For next week, we will continue to work on bugs, but we're also getting back into some of the bigger stuff like improving the AI's battlefield tactics (more flanking, better use of combined arms).

thank you very much for such a great game you're making
more about that?

* Added unit tags for cities
* Improved food consumption and morale mechanics
another issue. the steam dowloading center is doing the installation. short after, the mcafee real time search blocks. so steam starts again and mcfee block too. So its a loop.
Now I'll be forced to desinstall the game.
you can also pause or disable update to avoid loop

any solution in sight?
We're working at full speed on this problem and already contacted McAffee on this issue. There should be a solution within sight anytime soon.

and to play the game, just disabling real time search of mcafee.

Unfortunately we don't have a lot of control over the mcafee issue, but we're working to resolve it as fast as we can. I finally got a response from them today, but all they said was to contact a different address. I'll keep following it up and let you guys know when we have an answer. Thanks for your patience.
Love you guys and all the great work you are doing! This is one of the few purchases that I have truly enjoyed in a long time.
There is a setting inside McAfee to exclude specific folders. Try the following as a workaround:

I have encountered a different issue since the change. In the first chapter, when I go to meet Ariovistus, the Aedui city of Magetobria is not changing to a Sequi city. As such, the Ariovistus units cannot leave, and I cannot attack without declaring war on the whole Aedui faction. I tried reloading to a previous point, but it happened again. Is there a simple script I could use in F2 to change the city ownership for now so I can keep playing?

You need to have the city selected, then you can use
getselected():capture(getfactionbyname("Suebi"))
