Get a new mouse? Right click works for aiming in melee and for guns Left click works for shooting or swinging (stabbing). You should not have to go to inventory to use your items. The first two slots are for you weapons and the other slots should be for food, beverage, barracade or shield.

I hope that clears things up a little bit for you. =)

figure out if it is your mouse that is the prob first. try a controller. maybe you should try default the mouse controls.

Don't have a new mouse. This mouse works perfectly fine on everything else as well. I'm aware of what all the controls are for after looking at them in the options menu, but they don't work. :c

My biggest issue is with the right click and left click. I have no problem having to open my inventory, but not being able to aim and attack is making the game impossible to play at the moment. I've tried to do a bit of searching to see if anyone else has had similar problems in the past, but I haven't found anything, which really gets my hopes down. ;-;

I am currently using the default controls. I have an xbox controller, but I've never set it up on this PC. I will give that a shot if it comes down to it. Thanks for the suggestion!

I don't think you can right-click with the flashlight but I may be wrong. Trying pressing backspace to holster your flashlight then try right-clicking. Some items you are unable to equip so that may be why you can't cycle through them, for example food items.

It's a new day and I've tried all of the above. Still experiencing the same problems.

@Adrian: I've seen people beat zombies with a flashlight, so I'm assuming I'm able to do that. Right click still only works prior to using any items in game. Equipping a gun or weapon doesn't seem to make a difference. I can understand not being able to cycle through food, but I can't cycle through weapons or anything of that variation either, lol.

I'm baffled! I guess I'm going to give running around without being able to defend myself a shot until me or someone else can figure this out.

I just gave changing the key bindings a shot. Still can't aim if it's set to any other key. :c wtf maaaaan.

so scroll through weapons if the next weapon is melee. ie you need a bat say then a gun. right click to zoom, left click to attack. have you tried a a controller?
