And to answer your question, yes, it is a lot to ask for an actual story.
I get what you mean by writing your own story, but the title could be misleading. The only real story you can create is. I picked my character, I spawned, I collected supplies, I killed zombies, I saw people, I died.
If the only story you can come up with is THAT, then this game truly isn't for you.
Its not the story I would make. But it is the story I experience in the game
"I really fell in love with the game when I first started playing and ran across another survivor.
I was low on food and hurt. I stalked the other player from the hill top as he scavanged a trailer park. I knew at that point, if he were to clean everything out, I'd be dead before I found the next place to loot.
I slowly walked down the hillside as I lost vision of him behind some buses. I arrived at the bottom of the hill only 20 or so feet away from where I last saw him. When I turned the corner I heard rustling inside an RV. I pull out my knife and stepped in behind him. I regretted every moment up to that point. I slowly walked in looking closely at every shadow and shade and I could finally see the back side of his backpack and a bat hanging from his side. I knew if I were to turn and walk back out, I'd be surrendering myself to my emminent death and I wasn't ready to give up just yet. I crept all the way to his flank, which felt like half an hour to move up 10 feet.
As soon as I was in range of my knife, I could hear my own breath in real life and I couldn't hesistate anymore. I squinted in fear as I swung my knfe to the back of his neck as I repeated anxiously on my microphone "I'm sorry, I'm sorry...""
Don't get me wrong. I like role-playing games where the point is to tell your own story, and the story you came up[ with was pretty good. I was just hoping the game would be more based on a pre-set plot. Instead, I just ended up getting a game I had already seen done before (Day Z, Rust, etc). Sorry for any misunderstanding. Kudos to you for defending your point.
You are right, the game is probably not for me. I expected one thing and got another. I fail to accept a simple truth. I should just stop complaining. Again, sorry for wasting your time.
I doubt they could get a copyright for just "Infestation". I'm sure it's already taken by someone. (There was a playstation game with that title, but no idea who owns the copyright at this specific moment)
