can someone enlighten me as to what the f is going on around Sven and its development?
so this popped up on steam subreddit not long ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/4mnkui/why_lead_dev_is_ruining_sven_coop_a_free_mod_for/

and was wondering if someone could Tl;DR this whole dramafest to me

Sniper was being a bottleneck for Solokiller properly work on the mod to fix many of the issues, therefore Solokiller was banned from the forums.

He was mainly banned for stating the obvious, which is: sniper ruined the game and continues to do so by dictatorship. With the only active dev leaving, sven is now officially dead.

I remember that when the thread started, it were made sticky, so that everybody could see, after sometime, Solokiller was stripped of his moderation powers and the thread was made unsticky. After Solokiller's post, I did another one which said:
I'm speechless to read all this.

After Solokiller was stripped of his powers, it made clear that he was the pillar to keep the mod alive. Just look at the forums where I asked a bunch of questions and he was there giving full support, not only him, but other members of the community as well, if it weren't for him I wouldn't probably learn programming as I do now. I'm sure his efforts should've been taken more seriously.

The thread was deleted shortly after I made this post and Solokiller was banned. This my friends marks the end of Angelscript support, he can probably support people here, and I would love to have him added so I could learn more from him. But none of that matters now after the ban.

hello! :3 Jun 5, 2016 @ 8:31am
Ssh, be quiet you guys, don't say anything bad about the game, or you'll get hardcoded steam bans like cocyx.

The fact that the first thing they do is remove the thread and ban him shows their true colors. Someone even complained about one side of the story, well they just told their side by removing it.

Theres a lot to read, its a wall of text..

Just reading that it just seems that the lead dev sniper is always blocking people from fixing bugs/making improvements to the game that the community wants, it also seems like he doesn't really care about what the community thinks. Why would someone stop someone from fixing things? O_O If he doesn't have time to do things he should really let others with who do have time to work on it.

Seems like solo was working hard on fixes and got upset when he kept getting blocked from doing so.

I think that this is one of the reasons why we should revert back to 3.0.
It was stable, the AI wasn't sufferring from buginess, and the viewmodels were fitting.

sniper isnt the only awful dev member, theres a closely-knit tree house of devs that will ban you from the entire mod if you talk♥♥♥♥♥♥about them

There are some pretty interesting viewpoints here. It's amazing how judgmental people can be in the public. A lot of things have been taken out of context. I really didn't want to have to respond to this, but I think things are getting a bit silly.

What you have, on the team currently, is a group of people that have great passion for what they do. This is a free game produced by people on the internet. We have fulltime jobs and we fit in development time after work or on the weekends. A lot of time and money is put into this project - for absolutely no benefit - other than making people happy. That's the only reason why Sven Co-op exists.

In any team environment there is going to be disagreements or arguments. No one is perfect and certainly no team is perfect. What you've read about is a disgruntled team member that chose to lash out even after agreeing to keep things professional. What you might not understand is that there are always people, in any organization, that make decisions. Programming especially is a much disciplined activity in this regard – you have certain roles on programming teams that elicit authority (otherwise it’d be chaos). For example, if we were to make the project open source and let anyone submit modifications without checking their work, you would have viruses in Sven Co-op the next day. There are plenty of updates we want to make, but we always have to ensure we're not going to break the existing game. You also have to weigh the perceived benefit to the game versus the time required to implement the feature and the risk it brings in introducing new bugs.

Today, the team is stronger than it ever has been. We have a great group of testers, forum moderators and managers, 2D and 3D artists, level designers, and programmers. Everyone plays a vital role in getting the next release out the door.

The mod would have died years ago if it weren't for the team members that have stuck by it. There'd be no Steam release, there’d be no content, and there’d be no updates. There'd be no game!

We're not in that situation right now. We've only just begun developing Sven Co-op. Steam was our biggest achievement thus far, and it allows us to get releases out more quickly. Expect a lot of exciting and interesting things as we progress in the coming months and years.

what "context" are you even talking about? all i see is a pathological two faced liar who treats people like♥♥♥♥♥♥in private and then tries to cover his♥♥♥♥♥by going "you had to be there!!"

I'm not sure what your goal is here. You've read my response.

I can see that you've already decided what you want to believe. Feel free to continue playing Sven Co-op, while hating it's creators... I guess that makes sense!
