Or you could just be exploding dead bodies of enemies above pig cops, but I don't think there is enough ammo to "just breeze though" it, in which case you'd be cheating.
Edit: And I guess the thing is that too many people rely on the shotgun and ripper throughout the whole game and save their big gun ammo for the final bosses of each episode. Personally I think it's unneccessary to save ammo for episode bosses because the developers put plenty of explosives in the boss rooms already.
There is enough ammo thrown at you to effectively destroy all bodies and still manage to have near max ammo up until the final boss.
I find it incredibly hard when trying to speed run through but when you take your time destroying bodies it's pretty easy.
Shrink and then stomp
Make one big pile of dead bodies and use a pipe bomb
Trick the fat flying guy to blow up the bodies
door squish bonus
Environmental explosives
blow up a cluster of enemies
Explode those flying metal things over a dead body.
use the green tiny alien blob thing to eat the bodies.
All of this I use to destroy bodies and advance to the next level without any problem. Also I never run low on ammo. The first level is always a ♥♥♥♥♥ because I don't have enough explosives but after that it's a cakewalk.
I recommend playing the game on Come Get Some: same amount of enemies as on DIG and no respawns.
Some of the older games seem quite easy now, even Doom/doom2 original levels seem a bit easy now.
