I've looked all over for a torrent but couldn't find anything.
I actually have a great set up for translating ♥♥♥ VNs using textractor
... I play a lot of otome porn games
Could you maybe PM me and help me get the source of this game?
Women, treated like dumb children and still sexually objectifed when catering to men. This world is ♥♥♥♥♥♥.
On the other hand, I also think it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up that no Western VN publisher EVER wants to localize mature otome games (except for a couple of really... "weird" ones) but there's plenty of games of that nature that have been released for males in English. There's literally no excuse since female fandom and female otaku spaces outside of Japan are super horny for anime guys, perhaps more so than ever, so they can't really say there's no market for it (there are mobile otome games that have been extremely successful as well, such as Mystic Messenger, so plenty of westerners are familiar with the concept of otomege already). At least fujos have been getting something I guess, but not all of us are fujos either.
But... Well, to be fair, BL games and Galge are typically eroge, while adult otome games are rarer in comparison. Good R18 otome is even harder to come by.
The vast majority of eroges for men on Steam are censored, even the most popular ones such as those from Nitro+. Just read the discussion pages for Song of Saya or You and Me and Her and you’ll see tons of people complaining the Steam releases are censored to death. Granted, those games *did* receive an 18+ patch, but off-site and cost money. The reason this game got no 18+ version or patch is because the publishers of the Steam version are the same as the Switch version. Even if they wanted to release the uncensored version for Steam they’d have to obtain the rights for it and spend more money on translation/localization.
This is the same exact situation that happened with Chaos;Head Noah. Steam got censored port because Steam port is just the same port as PS3/Switch. and let’s be real here, devs always want to do the most minimal effort possible and sell an incomplete game for full price. It’s not misogyny, it’s not any kind of discrimination in fact. It’s just a matter of business and money. I’d also advise you to do a little more research on visual novels and their status here on Steam before you start making a bunch of baseless claims.
Yyyyyyeah so there actually *is* uncensored pornography on Steam and most, if not all of it is for men. And for some people it even pops up even when you're not looking for hentai games. For example, if you play games with anime visuals and visual novels, such as otome games, you'll probably be finding a lot of those hentai games by accident, just because they share those two tags, and because certain devs deliberately avoid tagging their content properly so it'll show up in more people's recommendations...
Anyway, if you don't know about otome don't say anything. Yes, it's true that all-ages versions of eroge originally released on PC isn't unique to otome by any means, but the amount of eroge for males by far surpasses that of both R18 otome and R18 BL combined. And just as I mentioned in my previous comment, western eroge publishers don't seem to believe it's a good investment to localize R18 otome games, except for two or three really obscure or mediocre ones. Though I also understand it might be difficult getting the license from the developer. It just doesn't make a lot of sense that there aren't more "commercial" adult otomege, whether localized or not, since the adult joseimuke market is currently booming as can be seen on sites like DLsite Garumani (it's just that most of it is doujin), plus otome games are becoming popular in the west. Well, it might make sense if you think "girls don't like that stuff" or "adult games are just for men". And this phenomenon isn't just something us westerners have pulled out of our asses, since Japanese women who are into this genre point it out as well.
There is a lot of uncensored porn on Steam, that is true. But my point was that the majority of eroges on Steam, including the ones for men, are CENSORED. the most popular releases are censored! JAST censors all of their games down to All Ages unless you wanna go off-site and buy a $5 patch. Clannad and Little Busters don’t include the adult content either. When Shuffle! was still available on Steam it was the all ages version. Nekopara and Neko-Nin require a patch. If you don’t know anything about bishoujo games, then don’t say anything.
Steam has a setting you can use that filters out adult content. At this point you sound like you’re just mad at seeing male-focused eroges advertised to you.
Girl, I have every localized otome on Vita and Switch. I imported Butterfly’s Poison physical on Switch. I’m very familiar with the genre. What you are wanting, is otome porn games. Fair, you are allowed to want that, and even I would enjoy some. BUT, otome eroges are extremely niche. Even more niche than otome actually is. And this is because, exactly as you said, “girls don’t like that stuff”. The market for otome eroges is small, therefore logically, why would companies waste their resources on something that is probably not gonna sell very well? The reality of the situation is that visual novels/eroges are more popular with men, therefore devs will cater to them more. Perhaps some day the otome eroge sub-genre will be more popular, and we will see more games of that sort. If you *really* want to see more of these games made though, you could always try to make your own. I am a woman myself, and I don’t feel excluded or anything because devs decide to cater to the more popular market. It’s frustrating sometimes yes, but I get why it’s like this.
You can choose to filter out explicit sexual content or just mature/suggestive content. Iirc I have chosen the former, and blacklisted the "Hentai" tag as well. But if you filter EVERYTHING out, a lot of games that aren't porn, including a good chunk of popular AAA games, get caught in the filter too! And there's a lot of shovelware porn games that aren't considered explicit content by this filter (not explicit enough), or the devs simply "forget" to tag their games properly, so you can still come across that crap despite your best efforts to improve your own experience on Steam.
Well... YEAH?? Of course I'm mad about that. Is that wrong? I'm not the target audience and I'm trying to HIDE that content for myself, yet I'm still seeing that ♥♥♥♥ every now and then JUST BECAUSE I enjoy otome games which have anime graphics and often use a visual novel format... The algorithm and tagging system are clearly not designed to address these situations. In Japan, everybody knows that, even though they have many superficial similarities, galge, BL and otome games are very different from each other. Everybody knows galge is for men and BL/otome are for women. That's why in places like DLsite, content is separated in sections for each specific audience. (Btw, DLsite alone is proof that it's not true that women don't like erotic content.) But there's no such distinction here on Steam so things like this often happen. I'm pretty sure that's something normal to be annoyed at. Is that not allowed or what?
You can also choose to filter “adult only sexual content”, which only filters out games marked “Adult Only” and doesn’t filter out any game with just “sexual content”. The option you want is to filter out Adult Only games.
No need to be so aggressive.
I didn’t mean that women don’t like erotic content. Ofc there’s women that like that stuff, even I like that stuff. BUT majority of women are not porn-enjoyers. There’s a reason why most otome games aren’t erotic and why most galge are, because men and women’s tastes are different on average. The women that want erotic content in their otomes are a niche. DLsite is good at fulfilling niches. You can find all kinds of stuff on there that I can assure you majority of the population isn’t into, lol.
Sure, you’re allowed to be annoyed (although I don’t understand why you think you’re not allowed to be annoyed). It sucks that Steam doesn’t have a good tagging system when it comes to visual novels, but Steam isn’t a site that caters to vn players like DLsIte does, so can you really expect them to go above and beyond for a niche audience? There’s a lot of content I see on Steam all the time that I don’t like, but there’s nothing I can really do about it. And I can’t expect Steam to cater to me and shield my eyes from content that bothers me. I suppose if there’s enough people with the same issues as you, Steam can refine their filters. Have you ever sent them feedback?
