Tutorial/Load issues
I have two bugs that I think are not related. The first is that my saved games never load properly. It's like the game is paused because when I load the game, the few villagers I can find won't move. Another problem is that buildings will suddenly be on fire even though they weren't when I saved the game.

Since the saved games won't load properly, the only way I can get through the tutorial is to play it all the way through. But the problem is that the tutorial doesn't end. Once I've killed every bad guy I can on the map and freed all the prisoners... nothing happens. I see a quick funny scene of a guy freeing his wife and her nagging him. Then that's it. I can still do stuff in the match, but there's no more quests. When I exit out, I still can't get to the sandbox. It's as if I had never played the tutorial.

Because of the load issues and the tutorial never actually ending, I can't seem to enjoy any other part of the game. How can I fix this?

This sounds like a bug that we've been hearing about recently. Can you email a saved game to please? Details on how to do this can be found in the FAQ. However whenever we've tried to recreate it, the saved games have always loaded for us. This suggests it may be a memory related issue linked with the 32-bit build.

It's definitely worth checking out the 64-bit build of Folk Tale if you are running a Windows 64-bit operating system. Details can be found under the link below:

The Tutorial and Sandbox aren't linked. All Sandbox preview tech is accessible from the very first screen. They are:-

Create - Sandbox Editor
Customize - Sandbox Character Studio ( Mostly for viewing atm )
Preview - Sandbox Player ( for playing maps designed in Sandbox Editor ).

In time the Tutorial will be migrated to use Sandbox tech, and the load/save bug will disappear.

PS: The Tutorial is deliberately left open-ended to allow players the freedom to explore any areas they may have skipped over earlier.

I already added the 64-bit build, but the save game is before it. Should I start over again and create a new save to try out?

Okay, that build fixed things. I can now load games that were saved after the build. Thank you very much for your help

My pleasure. It's the 32-bit build that sometimes causes memory issues. We'll be making the 64-bit build the default build in the next public release to prevent this. In time the issue will drop out of the 32-bit once we migrate the Tutorial to use sandbox tech.

Thanks to a community member providing save game files, we've discovered a bug in the save game loading system that may also have caused moonwalking villagers post-load. A fix will be included in Patch 0.2.8.
