What happens when you get idolized/liked by the Legion?

In terms of negative repercussions, I mean. The Brotherhood of Steel likes me, the NCR idolizes me, and overall, I'm an ally with everyone in the Wasteland except the Legion, which is still neutral.

I want to know what I should keep in mind when I start pickpocketing NCR dogtags.

When that comes around I'll pick NCR, but it's kind of nice to not have to worry about Legion assassins. Also, access to the Legion safehouse is something on my list of wants.

I like the ncr generally, but keep an eye out for 2 other ways to complete the game besides ncr and legion. Also, A mod I tend to use is the no main story ultimatiums mod on fnv nexus, letting you explore both paths without having to shoot up the other side.

It's been my experience that the friendlier you become with the Legion the worse your reputation gets with all other factions except the Legion's allies.

If you're liked by the Legion, you won't be able to recruit Boone and Arcade Gannon, since they don't exactly favor the Legion.

I don't know about Arcade Gannon because I can't recruit him anyway thanks to the quest For Auld Lang Syne being completed,

But after a talk about it, Boone seems okay with it after I tell him that it won't happen again.

Getting rep with Legion grants access to safehouses which give you nice loot and respect from Legion members. Boone and Arcade get mad if you're liked though, and will have had enough when you reach Idolized.

The biggest advantage is not the safehouse but the replenishing stash near Cottonwood Cove. It is the best money source in the entire game, including DLCs.
Also, your reputation with the NCR & Co. does not drop because you are idolised by the Legion, it is just most quests that give you Legion fame also add NCR infamy. Still, with some careful planning, you can get to idolised status with all but one faction.

You can get idolized by the legion by giving ncr dogtags to that decanus dude in cottonwood cove. You don't have to kill ncr troopers to get dogtags, just pickpocket them

Being idolized has no reprecussions(except not being able to hire boon, hear he doesn't like people the legion does not hate), only vilified carries consequences.

And also you sometimes get hate comments by people who support ncr (even if you have idolized reputation with ncr)

Stealing all of the dead money gold and general looting is enough to buy everything you want.

When you take the dog tags, replace them with Legion denarius.
