TEMPORARY 1.7.0.4 FOSE FIX
This fix will ONLY WORK if you have a PREVIOUS version of the exe from before the new update.

If you don't have a previous exe version you can get it from the googledrive link in this video's description: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CwW03B8Mr8

1. Delete the new executable and launcher that was created from this stupid 1.7.0.4 update
2. Copy and paste you previous exe file into the directory you just deleted from
3. Paste the FOSE launcher into your fallout3 common directory, rename the launcher to "falloutlaunchersteam"
- right click the launcher
- go into properties
- run it in windows 7 compatibility mode, and always run as admin.
4. Start the game through "falloutlaunchersteam". Verify your game is working with FOSE
5. Exit the game, then launch from the steam library. If you did it correctly it should start and run with no issues

Note: Thank you Sephiroth for figuring out how to get it to work from the steam library

Just tested this out, my FO3 is back up and running! No FOSE error messages in game, FWE is running fine as well. Thanks for the fix bro! :)

I luckily backed up the Fallout3.exe a few days ago, but not the FalloutLauncherSteam.exe file. But I didn't need the launcher. Replaced the Fallout3.exe and I can run with the FOSE launcher.

Yup that will work too, so long as you have the old executable you can get it to work with the FOSE launcher

This isn't legal. It's piracy. You can Google how to d/l prior versions to revert.

the executable will do nothing by itself, lol

exactly it only matters if hes sending a crck version of the executable which doesnt matter since im pretty sure the game is drm free if you start the game directly using the exe or fose. the DRM of the game is the launcher exe and xbox live not the games actual exe. now the game is drm free since you can use other config launchers. probably why the game is on GOG.

test it yourself. exit steam open the fo3 exe [not the launcher] and it will boot fo3. most games will require steam to be running to play but fo3 doesnt.

so funny seeing people talk liek they are above pirating when they have been doing it this whole time.

You actually only need Fallout3.exe. I updated but had an old back-up of just that exe. Replaced it while leaving the launcher at the newest version. FOSE works just fine.

No one has been doing piracy the whole time. What the hell are you even talking about?
Do you even know what piracy is?!?!!
What the hell?
Your statement could not make less sense if you wrote in Sumerian!
And that's a dead language!

FOSE has nothing to do with piracy. You literally and legally cannot claim that.

FOSE isn't close to being considered piracy since it's code that requires a copy of the game

so does downloading an older executable. neither of those things are "piracy" though.

Yeah, I'm not sure why anyone would claim FOSE is close to piracy.
