GOG or Steam?
So, there are multiple places to buy this, which is the most stable or easy to fix versions?

GOG version is much better, and has less bugs where the Steam version is absolute garbage. The bugs in the steam version are so bad that you cannot finish the game even though you can use the bug fix patch released by the community, and it still crashes like crazy.

STAY AWAY from the steam version.

GOG version is the way to go.

Well I can't speak for the steam version but I am currently playing through on GOG and have had no problems. Runs in fullscreen, smooth no crashes.

Having said that I just got past a very annoying bug where the next scene would not trigger.
Tried the unofficial fan patch which made no difference so in the end had to find a save game online to restart the level and the bug didn't recur.
I've read that it is advisable to save as near to the start of each level as possible and then back up that save game. (by going to the directory and copying out that saves folder). The game only lets you have a limited number of saves but it means if something goes wrong, as it did for me, you at least have a clean start of level save to go back to.

And one more I had to turn the resolution down for the final act or it couldn't be finished.

Damn, I was watching Mandalorians Review while I mysteriously found out that this game already exists in my Steam library without me ever knowing to have it purchased.
Is there a way of getting the Steam version up to date like the GOG one, an unnofficial patch or some thing?

Just finished the Steam version. I have to say the game played well, not a lot of glitches and crashes..with the exception of the "Blue Light" fiasco where you have to kill the sorcerers in "Dangerous Voyage." I installed the unofficial patch to eliminate that problem. Be careful not to click on "Give all weapons at beginning of level" because I found that if I used a weapon I was not suppose to have the game would not jump to the next level at the end. I had to go back and do it again. This game is very difficult to play. So if the Gog version removes any problems for you I recommend it. The game is challenge enough without crashes and glitches. Save often and make sure you keep a save game at the beginning of every level....just in case.

just get it on steam and play it on ubuntu through proton, it works 10times better than on windows xD
They should just grab the fixes from the gog version and add them to steam or put the game in GOG connect forever.
The STEAM version is totally botched beyond repair :/
By the time of writing this can be picked up at 1.49€ on gog at the moment. (And you even get a copy of Elder Scrolls Arena and Elder Scrolls Daggerfall optimized for modern systems along with the Cuthulhu game)
