Cant play [Solved]
I try to launch the game, but it brings up the "launcher" screen, and everything is grey'd out except the website link, and "Exit"

I can't start the game.

---------------------

Running Steam as Administrator works somehow...stupid steam...

I can't either. I get the original start menu and when I click Play, it closes down. I get a windows error message saying Oblivion has stopped working (well duh!) and windows will check for a solution. It may do so for all I know, but I never her back from it.
That problem cropped up for me after I first downloaded the game, but I found out what the problem was after a few minutes. The next time you start the Oblivion Launcher, click Data Files and make sure every DLC is checked.

Try disabling HDR in the option menu.

I see. Have you tried verify the integrity of the game cache in the properties menu?

Yes.
Maybe the Oblivion Launcher is somehow corrupted.
Try going to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Oblivion, or wherever Oblivion is installed at, and copy the OblivionLauncher.exe to a safe place, then delete that file from the Oblivion folder.
Next try verifying the game cache. It will see the missing .exe and then download it.
Hopefully this will work.

Yeah, no. I deleted everything, and reinstalled. Nothing.
Well heck, what OS are you using and are you using any mods?

I get the same stupid "greyed out" it worked just fine the first time, but then it blacked out and crashed. And i have deleted EVERYTHING at least 6 times now and reinstalled. I'm sick of this crap.

Go to My Documents/MyGames/Oblivion/ folder, find and delete Oblivion.ini. Try launching the game. If you can't do that, go to the MyGames folder and delete the Oblivion folder, try the launcher and see if there are any chance. If nothing has changed, then reinstall the game once more after this and hope that this fixed it. If that still doesn't fix it. Then you'll have to contact support.
