I've actually already made a new character to use spells and sneaking and it amazes me how much damage spells can do, I'm Lv.1 and I can three shot an Imp- which is way faster than a great sword.
I guess being a Melee build in Oblivion is really boring because I'm already having fun.
In this game, a melee fight is a slower process (so far) and there isn't much thought to be put into it, now I need to actually think about what I'm doing with spells.
Spellcrafting is Oblivion's real bread and butter. Weapons are just a utility used to remove Xivilai and Lich. Magic will horribly maim pretty much everything else in existence.
Heavy Armour:
I could look it up but I wanna ask, how do I craft spells?
Or do the Frostcriag spire player home quest and cough up gold and buy magetallow candles to reactivate the spell crafting altar there.
(Requires the GOTY Deluxe version)
Two ways. First method is progressing the Mages Guild questline until you gain access to the Arcane University. The university has various rooms, one of which is the Praxographical Center (spellcrafting). You don't need any DLC to access it, its purely vanilla.
Second way is Frostcrag Spire, available as DLC (packaged with the GOTY version). Its a player home, and you can upgrade with various items including a spellcrafting altar by purchasing Magetallow Candles from the NPC marked in the quest. Bit expensive, but no guild quests required
I have 3 of the 7 recommendations so far, I have the GOTY version but I don't know how to make a lot of money.
I remember giving up learning it cuz the NPCs were ridiculous with super fast slashing, but parrying you when you swing at them with perfect precision, and then randomly shield bash you into objects and hack away at you while you ragdolled. LOL.
