Crime "DOES" pay in Morrowind!!!!

Want to make easy money for your begining character,without a cheat,but a loop hole in the game. In the start of the game "BEFORE" you leave the Census and Exsise office and are offically released,and( before you get your papers from the Officer).You can steal anything in both buildings.The way you do this is: Make sure your far enough away from the guards before you snatch something so it gives you time to drop it out of your inventory.Drop said item out of your inventory before the guard(s) approch you.Then pick it up and it's yours and not considered by the game to be stolen,even if you have made another atempt on another item in this manner.Then rinse and repeat(so to speak).However, this "ONLY" work here in the inital first two buildings.The reason the game behaves this way is.Since your still tech. a prisoner(of the Emperor,and on a special mission and have it like that :) ) They don't fine or arrest you,just let you off with a warning.Hope everyone enjoys the tip.If I find anymore I will release the loop holes.P.S. this works even after the lastest offical Morrowind patch.

Just get Lord's mail, sell it to museum and you got 40k already. You can take the guy down on pretty low level.

Yes,Yes Awzum,but more then likely a new player is not going to be doing that at 1st-2nd lvl.This is meant for newcommers and people who don't want thier character dying right after they get off the prison ship.Making a journey like that for a 1-2 lvl. character can be frustrating,even just do to movement speed of their character.This is much simpler and safer.For the sake of frustration.Also,you'd have to wait for a possibly unsurvivable Darkbrother hood attack to even get the quest started to have access to Mornhold.That only happens at lvl. 2 and above and only an 80% chance at that.This is for immediate funds, just to get started.

Funny, replaying it now I had forgotten the absurd amount of loot in the game. Money very quicky becomes no object. Can't even sell it all. Thank goodness for Creeper :)

Guess my point for new players is, don't worry about money. You'll have plenty.

There is also a "Drunken Talking Mud Crab Merchant" just E,SE (East,South East) on a tiny little Island from the Dwemer Ruin "Mzahnch" in the "Bal Fell" region.That Dwemer ruin is located directly North of the Daedric Ruin "Bal Fell" which also holds the artifact "The Ten Pace Boots".How to get to the Daedric Ruins of Bal Fell? If you've done work for House Hlaalu(or during the Main Questline) you will know of "Omani Manor". Where you talk to Velanda Omani to get her support to be named Hlaalu Hortator.The manor is on the pininsula that is just E,SE of the Telvanni Compound in Vivic and the Daedric ruins of Bal Fell are just S,SE of Omani Manor. The Mud Crab Has 10,000 barter gold.The tiny island is just down the slopes of "Mzahnch",again to the E,SE . Becareful not to mistakenly kill him by taking him for another mud crab.

I'd forgotten about the piles of stuff I had that I couldn't sell fast enough. I had a weapons dump (literally) of glass, and ebony in the ashlander camp you go to later in the main quest line. Creeper was my best friend, lol. I knew about the mud crab, but I never found him.

I just walked up to the dren planttation and stole a Ebony chestplate from right infront of the guy known as Dren. Then i found the mudcrab unfortunatly he was dead

Actually the best way I found to sell ebony and glass is either the trader/smith in Raven Rock or Mournhold.

As for the gold thing, I actually did start out my gold by robbing balmora blind and selling it to the pawn shop. Really there is a lot of stuff you can steal even without thief skills. Only thing you really have to avoid is stealing stuff from merchant's buildings that they buy as theft laws in Morrowind are wierd and you can be named a criminal just cause you have a different item that is similar to the one they had stolen.

Well,hopefully this helps you find "The Drunken Talking Mudcrab Merchant".I think my directions in my 2nd post are pretty accurate.

Just for the lols before starting oblivion after I finished my playthrough of morrowind I started a second character and I found the easiest way to make quick cash is get like 800 gold to set you up with enough gold to buy all basic alchemy equipment and then go to Balmora and at the alchemist you can make profit off of buying alit hide and muck and then selling the potions back to her. (good way to level you alchemy, merchentile, and acquire master alchemy devices early on)

You only need a mortar and pestal to start and cheap ingreadients. I recomend the temple in balmora making health potions which are both light and cheap to make. Later I buy better equip. The price is based on the mortar and pestal, intelegance, and skill.

If you're going to use the "let you off with a warning" cheat to get free stuff, you might as well do this - wriggle out through the corner of the wall next to the final room, get all the best loot in the game, from each town or dwelling or dungeon or whatever, (they will all let you off with a warning, *then* go back to the Offices at Seyda Neen and go into the final room. *Then* begin the game as normal, and sell (or keep) all your loot from wherever you stashed it.

I tried it out a few times, but I don't use the cheat anymore because the game is more fun if you have to struggle to get by in the beginning.

its not really a struggle if you know what your doing, as it has been pointed out once you can buy mortar and pestle and some cheap compatable ingredients you have a money train to thousands of gold a day
