I switched over to windowed mode and played the same 3 opponents in the previous post. All my matches today were *much smoother*. I can react to hops and in general the connections feel really great.
I did a ping test with the opponents, and the ping was actually similar if not worse than before. At this point I could not think of any difference but my ongoing hypothesis is that the game runs much better in windowed mode.
One nagging bug still remains: Often times the game would lose connection with opponents in between games. Sometimes I will be stuck in the screen that says "obtaining opponent information", some other times the game will return to the lobby and it will show that the opponent is "not ready," when in reality my opponent is seeing the opposite in their screen that I'm not ready for the next match.
This synchronization bugs occurs in console as well, but it seems that the bug happens much more often in Steam Edition.
