Why is nightvision so bright?
When recently coming back to the game after a few months, I was excieted when I saw night vision in my buy menu. On the insurgent side on Contact, I went into one of the darkest places on all of the stock maps, and set up turning on night vision. Terrible mistake, I was blinded with the light and eventually killed as I scrambled to turn it off. I could not even see my scope when I right clicked, it was just a greenish white screen. Is there a setting I can change to lower the brightness of night vision goggles or what? :C

No, that would be cheating.

the way it is in game is as intended.

Go into Game Settings and turn down your brightness. It's not video settings, game settings. It should be a little bar you can move around but on some game modes and maps that bar isn't there. Hope that helps.

So, if nightvision was not a complete sight impairment where you could not see anything on the screen, it would be cheating? Huh.

If I'm on Insurgent side I either leave or use flashlights, if I'm on Security side I use night vision WITHOUT any optics.

Optics are horrible with NVG.

Well, I find insurgent side weapons to be more fun then security side, though that is total personal preference. But, to the statement of nightvision without optics, I could not even see what was infront of me, much less optics or iron sights. Also, I might sound like a massive idiot by saying this, but what is NVG?

Nobody has said the obvious which is this:

Night vision goggles (NVG) are really really bright when you first turn them on, it takes a good 15 seconds for it to mellow out.

Hope that helps OP.

Also if you are anywhere near any light source that will be very bright through your NVG's. They are only intended for use in pitch darkness.

Actually if it was "pitch black" they wouldn't work at all. NVGs magnify ambient light much like the rods do in your eyes.

Yes OK captain pedantic lol :p I meant pitch black as in no man made light sources, just ambient moonlight as you would find anywhere on the planet at night time.

THIS.
This took me a while to figure out.

Also should note nightvision is only effective if there is a nearby light source (this can include your flashlight), without a lightsource you will still see very little to nothing. If you look at a bright light source it will blind you, like if someone points a flashlight directly at you.

Nightvision is good but don't expect it to make everything easy to see in all situations.

Hi..

When you turn on your nightvision it is very bright for a couple of seconds, afterwards it's going to be fine..that's normal..it's the same in reality when you turn on your nightvisions .
