Absolutely. I have 2.5k hours and play everyday. It's a fun game to grind and there's plenty of grind to be had.
There's another story DLC coming at the end of season 4 that will take place in Brooklyn, an endgame rework, seasons rework and a specialization re-work coming this year as well.
Incursions from the original Division is also making a re-appearance into the game.
If you have not played through the main story at all, I would highly recommend playing through it instead of skipping to NYC storyline.
Playing through the story line will give you a better understanding of gear, weapons and overall better understanding to the lure of game and Endgame. Almost everyone I know who skipped to the NYC story ended up putting the game down because they felt overwhelmed in the endgame with no real sense of direction and really didn't understand the purpose of the Endgame. Compared to those I know who played through the base game first ended up sticking with the game, so I think playing through the base game is important for new players or players who haven't finished the main storyline.
All of the gear you collect during the base storyline won't be worth using the endgame, but you'll accumulate a lot of materials for the Endgame grind which you'll need a lot of for gear optimization and the Expertise system.
Overall, if you haven't played the game at all, play through the main story and take your time. The game is still worth it, there's a solid player base and a lot of planned content and another DLC planned. The devs also mentioned that they will continue releasing content as long as there is demand.
