[FIXED] Crackling In the Sound
Hello all,

Finally able to play after waiting all week and all I get is an echo'd crackling noise out of my speakers and headset.

It happens when the game produces sound, even the introduction sound. It still happens with the real tone cable out. Ive tried adjusting my computer settings and changing between my external interface setup and my headphone but still no joy.

Nothing like this happened with the old rocksmith.

Any ideas?
Any links to othe tocpics, or computer configuration ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Resolved, folllowed a guide on the official forum until I got to adanced and did this:

Try setting "Win32UltraLowLatencyMode" value in the Rocksmith.INI file to 0. This will disable some of the new latency-reducing techniques we've added in Rocksmith 2014. It'll add a little latency, but may resolve your audio crackling.

Thanks anyway -.-'

I got this when I set the sound-engine to 1. Check if you have the default setting '4'. You can do this in the settings menu.

Yeah no problem,

Get to your rocksmith 2014 directory in your hardrive where steam was installed, something like this:

"c:/program files/steam/steamapps/common/rocksmith2014/Rocksmith.ini"
(its usally the file right before the exe for the game)

it will open in standard notepad, you just find "Win32UltraLowLatencyMode=1" and change it to "Win32UltraLowLatencyMode=0"

How would I do this on a Mac? I'm having the same issue.

I have intermittent issues on the Mac as well. It only happens on an iMac desktop. If I launch the game, as soon as I get into the game and can strum and hear the bass, it's all staticy when I pluck notes. I have found that closing the game, exiting out of Steam and relaunching often fixes the problem. Sometimes I have to do it twice before the static goes away. I'm not sure what causes that to happen but I don't think it's a bad cable or it would happen all the time.

Since the lower end Macs don't have very good graphics cards, (like my own iMac), I find that the game experience is much better when I restart the computer and only launch and play RS. If the computer's been on and I've been multitasking with it and then open up Steam/RS, it is sometimes sluggish. Still playable, but much better after a restart.

I have a Macbook Pro and it was working fine until a few days ago. I've tried restarting it several times and it's still crackling and staticky. At the moment I can only launch Rockmith from Steam, how can I launch it directly without going through steam?

I thought lower values made your PC run harder making it more likely to crackle.
Mine crakled whn I had it to 4 so I set it to 6 and it crackles less often.

I've been having this problem lately, and I just happened on your thread. This fix worked great, however, I'm noticing a bit of issues with the tones. The don't sound as clearly defined, and acoustic tones are almost completely inaudible, even after resetting all of my in game settings to default. Any thoughts?
