Should I Buy A Bass?
I've been playing the original Rocksmith for a couple of weeks and it's a lot of fun. I tried playing playing the emulated bass and it seemed pretty unsatisfying. I think having a real bass would be fun and allow me to get more from the game.

I got myself a Fender Squier bass just for RS, so much more fun then playing emulated :)

Hard to say if you should. Playing the emulated bass is the reason I bought a bass. Chances are if you find the emulated bass as unsatisfying, you'll find playing a real bass unsatisfying.
I've been tempted to pick up a cheapy bass myself just for the game, but something that's eased that temptation a little has been my electro acoustic.

Its not an ideal solution by any means, but with its wider fretboard, heavier guage strings, and the fact that I prefer fingerstyle on the acoustic anyway, all kinda, if I don't think about it too much, makes it feel a little more bass-like.

The added bonus is that I'd never use a bass outside of Rocksmith, the electro acoustic however is played quite often, so I don't feel bad about indulging a little in a second (or third) guitar! :B1:

I borrowed a Bass to test it in Rocksmith and started enjoying playing Bass so freakin much. I will never abandon it again :D
Perhaps you should borrow one too to test it first. It's just a hole different level than the emulated bass.
have fun!

I've goofed around with a real bass in the past so I know the feeling. I think I'll like the big fat strings and finger plucking will be easier on a real bass. I don't know anybody that would lend me a bass. I'll play some more emulated and see. What's a fun song to play on bass?

I got a cheap bass and it's a lot of fun!

The main reason I bought a bass was so I could play multiplayer with my friends.
Seemed more sensible to buy a bass than to buy a second guitar. I've ended up buying a second guitar as well now, but that's beside the point.

Yeah, get one, bass is great

If you're looking to play music more broadly a bass is probably a good idea. Everyone and their mum is a hotshot guitarist, and they're always looking for someone to play bass/drums for them.

Yamaha basses are excellent bang for buck, particularly anything above base model. Everyone should own a bass

I tried the emulated bass for about 15 minutes and the experience was so bad, I had to go and buy a proper bass. And what a difference!!!
I bought an Epiphone Toby Deluxe. Very nice bass guitar with an excellent feel for such a cheap instrument.
