Rocksmith DLC on Rocksmith 2014?
I'm just wondering if there's a way for me to download only the DLC of the first game to play them on Rocksmith 2014 without downloading (I already bought the game) Rocksmith. I don't want to use 12Gb on my PC for a game that I will never play.

Thank you

it dosent have to be installed you just have to activate it
you can also buy the import tool and the songs from the 1st RS that are on the disk will import to RS2014 but that tool is not needed for the DLC

You have to buy the license transfer which will allow you to use "most" of the songs from the first game. No eric clapton songs.

I own both Rocksmith and Rocksmith 2014, don't tell me I have to buy another thing to play DLC on Rocksmith 2014...

And MTZIGG, what do you mean by activate it?

Okay nevermind guys, it's done within the game itself!

No, you don't need to buy anything else to play the DLC. You do need the disc import tool if you want the original RS songs to be playable in RS2014.

I tried to buy some DLC from Rocksmith to play on RS 2014 (which I own) some time ago, and Steam wouldn't let me buy it. Said I needed to buy Rocksmith first.

Alas, I'm on a Mac, and apparently Rocksmith is only available for Windows?
Doesn't seem right. Is there a way to use DLC from Rocksmith without having to buy a game that won't work on my OS?

At the very least you need to buy the Disc Import Tool. I own Rocksmith and Rocksmith 2014 so I have access to all the songs from both games and only have the 2014 edition installed.

Please tell me more about this disc import tool?

Ok, so this is a similar yet confusing problem that I have. I've known for a while that you've needed the original Rocksmith to buy older DLC that was originally made for Rocksmith. I hoped that they would change this at some point, so I checked every now and then to see if it had changed yet. In Janurary, I was able to successfully purchase Megadeth - Hangar 18 DLC that was for the original Rocksmith and it installed and worked fine on 2014. I tried purchasing some older DLC packs today and it doesn't work now. This is quite perplexing as it worked a few months ago but not now.

That /is/ frustrating. Seems to me, if DLC is compatible with a game you own, you should be able to buy that DLC. Right?

It has been ♥♥♥♥ up for a long time. It was never supposed to be this way but it is . I know some work while others dont there is a list somewhare on the. But that seemed to work for some and not others

If you have RS1 and RS 2014, and you want to play the non-DLC RS1 songs in your brand new RS2014, you buy the "Disk Import tool", and these songs appear automagically in your RS2014.

You still can buy RS1 on Steam, and you don't have to install it to purchase the DLC for it. From that point on, any DLC you buy for RS1 will appear automatically in your RS2014. Same goes for the (badly named) "Disk Import Tool".

If you buy the original RS, then you'll be able to download the original DLC, and if you get the disc import tool, you will get the original songs as well. As someone else mentioned, you don't need to install the original for this all to work. I play RS2014 on a Mac, and I have all of the DLC and the original on disc songs.

Thanks for the clear explanations, Rogue203 and Pleazard!
I wish I could vote you guys up.
