nVidia 313.09 BETA is out released 2012.12.12
Hi all update your driver for latest beta version 313.09 http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/linux-display-ia32-313.09-driver-uk.html

Here is release notes:

Updated the NVIDIA X driver to reprobe displays when VT-switching to X, to allow reporting of hotplug events when displays are connected or disconnected while VT-switched away from X.
Added unofficial GLX protocol support (i.e for GLX indirect rendering) for the following extension and core commands.

ARB_vertex_array_object
OpenGL 3.0 commands ClearBufferfi, ClearBufferfv, ClearBufferiv, ClearBufferuiv and GetStringi.

Fixed a bug that caused the cursor shadow to be clipped to 32x32 pixels, even on Kepler GPUs that support a 256x256 cursor image.
Fixed a bug that prevented some cursor image updates from taking effect on displays with rotation or other transformations applied.
Fixed cursor alpha blending artifacts on displays with rotation or other transformations applied.
Added support for the GLX_EXT_buffer_age extension.
Improved the performance of glDrawPixels() by up to 450% when the pixel data is of type GL_BYTE.
Fixed libnvidia-encode.so library dependency by linking it with libnvcuvid.so.1 instead of libnvcuvid.so while creating it.
Improved performance of OpenGL framebuffer object binds with Xinerama enabled by 2000-3000% when the application's windows do not span screen boundaries.
Fix performance issues when using some versions of HyperMesh with Quadro GPUs.

*ubuntu packages: http://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa/+packages?field.name_filter=nvidia
Hopefully nvidia-experimental-313 will be available in system repository too.

After some experimentation, they aren't as stable as previous ones.
Serious Sam 3 on max settings really makes them throw errors like it's going out of style :)
Aaron 16 DIC 2012 a las 10:36
Can you please run nvidia-bug-report.sh after generating those errors and send the resulting nvidia-bug-report.log.gz file to linux-bugs@nvidia.com?

By installing the new nvidia driver via the xorg-edgers ppa, the kernel in Ubuntu 12.04 gets upgraded from 3.2.0-33 to 3.5.0-18. But didn't cause any issues so far...

Aaron, may you please look into this issue?
https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/524502/linux/frequent-freeze-crash-of-xorg-with-drivers-310-19-with-gts-250-on-3-2-0-4-amd64/

It's still reproducible on 313.09. There is nvidia-bug-report.log, backtrace and everything you need.

Above link to the x64 drivers actually goes to the 310 branch. 64bit 313.09 can be found here:

Really searching??? :D just look at beta section for drivers. It was be realeased by nvidia as BETA driver lol.
soddit112 17 DIC 2012 a las 13:22
quite right, I used the release search tool by accident :S either way, the 64 bit drivers linked in the first reply are from the earlier 310 branch, rather than the 313 mentioned in the OP. I got that bit right :P

I updated to 313.09 using the X-Org edgers PPA. With the latest Steam and game update Serious Sam 3 is playable for me using medium settings with my rusty Geforce 250 GTS ;)

I had no stability issues or errors so far.

Tried the 313 direct from nvidia.com Lightdm wouldn't start at all. Took some work to get back to the 310 drivers. Will try again next week.
