Steam for Linux

Steam windows randomly drawing on other than their own workspace
Since some days (probably since an update of steam or something else) Steam windows and Steam game windows randomly continue drawing when i switch from their workspace to a different one. I'm using archlinux 64 bit with xmonad and a GeForce GTX 660 Ti and it worked fine before.
So for example i am on a workspace with the main Steam window and i switch to one with firefox on it, some times the Steam window will show up on that workspace on top of firefox. However i can not interact with the Steam window and anything the firefox window draws will be overdrawn by the Steam window shortly after.
Having that ghost window, switching to other workspaces does not change it, until i switch back to the original workspace of the Steam window and from there to a workspace where for some reason the bug does not occur. One way to make sure it does not occur, as i found out, is having a full-screen xfce4-terminal on the workspace i switch to.
This bug might not be directly caused by Steam, it only occurs for Steam windows though, so i thought this might be a place to post it. Does anyone hav any idea how to fix this?

EDIT: Does not have to be workspace switch, putting a window on top of it is enough to cause see the bug.

I also have this problem.

It seems to only occur while the Steam client is minimized to the tray. If left maximized and simply switch to different windows, the problem does not crop up.

I'm also using Arch x86_64, but with an Nvidia GTX 465 (331.38 drivers), Xorg Server 1.15, and KDE 4.12.1

I'm running the Steam Beta client.

What button do you use to minimize steam? What's the terminal output when you minimize it?

This starts to get really annoying.

Just checked my Kubuntu install with the same hardware, drivers, xserver, and KDE version and I don't have this issue.

Must be another package that Arch has that differs. I'm just not sure which one.

This seems to be either a bug with nvidia drivers or xorg. A workaround is to use xcompmgr.

This has been happening to me since around the time I upgraded from Mint 14 to Mint 17. It seems to be getting worse, I need to exit Steam entirely to get it to stop redrawing every few seconds on top of what I'm doing, minimized or not. I might try the compositor workaround, but I'd rather not have to as I've had issues in the past when running games and Compiz at the same time (it was years ago and probably no longer an issue, but still).
