Issue Report: Steam+Xmonad broke after last update
The steam client was working (except for minor issues) with Xmonad yesterday, but after today's steam client update it regressed severely as now Xmonad doesn't seem to be able to control the steam client's windows anymore:

  • I can't move nor resize the steam-client main window anymore, which seems to be floating
  • Xmonad can't tile the main window anymore (it stays floated in front of all other windows)
  • The steam window can't be focused anymore and has no Xmonad window decoration
  • Steam's windows are mapped on *every* workspace

when I apply xprop to the main window, the following properties are reported:

XKLAVIER_STATE(INTEGER) = 0, 0 WM_STATE(WM_STATE): window state: Normal icon window: 0x0 WM_NAME(UTF8_STRING) = "Steam" WM_PROTOCOLS(ATOM): protocols WM_DELETE_WINDOW WM_HINTS(WM_HINTS): Client accepts input or input focus: True _NET_WM_ICON(CARDINAL) = Icon (48 x 48): ... _MOTIF_WM_HINTS(_MOTIF_WM_HINTS) = 0x2, 0x0, 0x0, 0x0, 0x0 WM_CLASS(STRING) = "Steam", "Steam"

I don't remember what properties were active before the update.

Am I the only one experiencing this new behaviour with Xmonad?

Nevermind, I just checked my config, and it seems that the
property changed with the latest steam update, and my xmonad config has a
clause that's matching now (but didn't before)...
