TF2 Not-in-beta Runs Flawlessly but keyboard bug?
CPU: Core i7
GPU: GTX 280
Unity, ubuntu 12.04
I have a dual monitor set up.
I can alt tab, and can use the overlay and switch between programs seamlessly. Alt-tabbing switching between programs is fast. I can actually do something on the other monitor without the game screen disappearing and having to wait for it to load up again (sometimes crash) like it did in windows when I alt-tabbed.

One minor bug, when I first opened tf2 it detected my keyboard layout (programmer's dvorak) and remapped all my keys properly in the keyboard settings for steam. But it didn't work, so I set it back to "defaults"(in steam) which is qwerty which works?? However in chat, I'm able to type in dvorak. So TF2 seems to require qwerty in the keyboard settings for steam for game input but reverts back to the system keyboard for in game chat?

This is very minor bug for people who use different keyboard maps. It's just not consistent, but it works.

The chat control using system layout isn't old, It uses the system locale defaults, as it has always done.

However, it seems to be that the problem is that Steam will assume you're using QWERTY for the control map.

I have the same problem. TF2 on Linux is just like HL1 games on windows, it assumes that you have a QWERTY keyboard, but I have an AZERTY one.
So if I want to go forward with Z, I need to bind W.
If I want to switch to the last weapon with A, I need to bind Q.

This also happens to me, but instead of the mistake from QWERTY to AZERTY, I have a language problem.

My ` button changes to /
and my / button is actually -

How am I supposed to go uppon editing keys though? I'm trying to set the button to "Toggle developer console" but so far (and yes, I have enabled it) I don't seem to get it open.

The game I'm trying this out is TF2 btw.
My keyboard works fine on any other software, (Portuguese keyboard layout)
