Steam for Linux

Problem: Steam Needs to Download Additonal Packages: libgl1-mesa-dri:i386, libgl1-mesa-glx:i386
I installed Ubuntu 12.04 32-bit on VirtualBox. When I opened Steam, I got this.

Steam needs to install these additional packages:
libgl1-mesa-dri:i386, libgl1-mesa-glx:i386

I updated Ubuntu in the virtual machine, and I installed ATI drivers using this command: sudo apt-get install fglrx.

Where can I get mesa?
Thanks, I'll try it out. By the way, does the VirtualBox version matter? Mines version 4.1.10...
Created a new machine. After installation, I removed the install iso, mounted VBoxGuestAdditions.iso, and booted up my vm. Reached the place where it said running in low-graphics mode. I tried to install guest additions from the Devices tab of the vm, but it said it was unable to mount the iso. What should I do?
I'd be surprised if the VBox 3D Accelaration supports OpenGL 3.0. So you won't be able to start the game anyway in that case.
Just use Ubuntu with WUBI. It installs just like any other Windows app (and can be removed just easy). You can find guides at ubuntu.com, look for Windows installer.

Tho remember that this is not full Ubuntu experience, cause performance will be a lot lower in comparison to normal installation.
well if i can't get it to work I'll try the WUBI way.

I think only Disk Input/Output is slower than on a normal partition.
how did do get past the low-graphics mode?
Chances are small that you will be able to run it in virtualbox at all tbh, the 3d acceleration is not that great.

What are your Display settings for the vm Deh Gato?
@Wouter I think he only wants that item anyways :P
Then use Wubi, it's easier to install and it's way faster. It's also easy to uninstall.
VB display settings: 128 MB video memory, monitor count 1, enable 3D acceleration checked
might as well run WUBI haha
I tried wubi and it installed and then wouldn't boot. I hate this garbage. I get teh same error as you in my virtual box. ERMA GERD LINUX IS SO GREAT.
I used sudo apt-get install fglrx to get rid of the low-graphics mode crap.
Finally works (used 4.2.6 VB and 12.10 ubuntu) thanks for the help!
