hey there,

im happy to see CSS availible for linux (thanks valve)

but ive got a big problem...

when i try to launch CSS ive got the same failure like TF2 (black screen)

i hear the valve melody, and cant see nothing :-/

hope anybody can help me :S

here my sstem:

Model: Acer eMachines g520
CPU: Intel Celeron 575 @ 2,00 GHZ
Ram: 3GB DDR2 @667 MHZ
Grafik: Intel GMA X3100
Chipset: Intel GL40 Express
HDD: 250GB Western Digital
OS: Linuxmint 14 Nadia (Mate 32bit)

opt out of the steam beta and it should work, last night update seems bad

but than you can't play online... damn

I opted out, it works, but can't find servers unless in Beta. Lame.

i think the source engine doesnt like my GPU :/

From what I know Steam stuff requires OpenGL 3.0 at least. The X3100 is only capable of OpenGL 2.1

but CS 1.6, Postal 2, Red Orchesta, Killing Floor etc... works.

only games with the source engine wont work

Source Engine seems to have higher requirements. I can't play TF2 on my old laptop either and that is with NVIDIA (6000 series).

The newer 310 branch of drivers only supports card with OpenGL 3.0 or higher (8000 series and up) for that reason I think.

Windows 7 doesn't use OpenGL for these Games... ;-)

that isnt right mate.

you can change your video mode to: Direkt 3d, OpenGL and Software.

Try to start Steam like this:
STEAM_RUNTIME=0 steam

That should fix the blackscreen issues.

doesnt work for me...

i become an error message:

"Couldn't set up the Steam Runtime. Are you running low on disk space?
Continuing..."

when i try to launch CSS there come the same failure....

after last updated Steam I have the same error

same crap mate but one thing, i can use the menu ect and quit the game by listing to the menu sounds.
