seg fault when starting tf2
I'm getting a seg fault when starting tf2. I've got Fedora 17 64 bit installed, and am using the AMD HD 7850 graphics card with the latest catalyst drivers. This is some of the chit chat I get from the terminal:

(hl2_linux:2645): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "clearlooks",

Does anybody know what sorts of things I can do to try and fix this? I recently tried what was posted here:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/221410/discussions/0/882966056473048081/
but didn't it didn't do the trick. Maybe I need open source drivers instead of the Catalyst drivers? Not sure. Thanks!!

Also, I might add that when launching TF2, the screen goes black for a moment, then goes away and gives up. No logo, no sound, etc.
wanpakboy 28 Thg11, 2012 @ 6:33pm
lots of of people seem to be having this problem myself included. seems to be related to running 64 bits.
VIVID* 28 Thg11, 2012 @ 10:11pm
I would certainly start by resolving the GTK issues at the head of your terminal output. I'm sure the game itself is 32-bit, so you'll likely need your i386/i686 compatibility packages.

Try something like gtk2-engines (i686).

hmm, thanks for the suggestion, but gtk2-engines was already installed and up to date. I'm sure there's other packages I can look into getting though, if I find any that seem relevant I'll post here.

Have you solved the issue? I'm having the problem with segfault on line 72 too:

For Fedora users, I had to do the following command to get TF2 to launch:

sudo setsebool -P allow_execheap 1

SElinux wasn't allowing the game to startup, and this corrected that :D

Same problem happening here. I've posted the details in the Team Fortress 2 Beta discussion page: http://steamcommunity.com/app/520/discussions/0/846939071154667890/
I have also segment fault when launching the game. The same problem with the normal version and the beta.
