Steam for Linux

Steam for Linux

Is there a steam configuration guide for Linux?
I mean non-ubuntu Linux, preferably - Fedora 18 x86_64 or later. I can't even start asking for help or reporting bugs when I don't even have the system configured for Steam properly, namely Steam is 32-bit, so it requires additional libraries to be installed on 64-bit (NORMAL) linux systems.

For example steam shows me an error message about non-direct rendering right after the start (does not crash) https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=9938-EYZB-7457

When I try to run a game it does crash (the game) but I think I should sort the above mentioned issue first.

~$ which glxinfo
returns:
/usr/bin/glxinfo

~$ glxinfo
name of display: :0
display: :0 screen: 0
direct rendering: Yes
server glx vendor string: ATI
server glx version string: 1.4

I'm using Fedora 18 x86_64. There's a repo here: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Steam_under_Linux#Fedora

Enable it and install Steam via yum. All dependencies will be installed as well. You just have to log in and use it without tweaking or configuring anything.
