I don't have anything against FreeBSD but from what I hear if they get their Linux compatibility up to par then there wouldn't be much of a need for a FreeBSD port.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!
POSIX doesn't necessary mean *nix though, Plan9 had compatilility layer, so as z/OS.
Believe it or not, even many Windows XX have some compatilility layer in Ultimate or Enterprise editions
It would need the libraries updating though - FreeBSD uses an older set of Linux libraries. It may happen, but it will take a while.
I love the BSD's. They're a well-structured delight, and as servers they're wonderful.
Well the fact people are using wine to play ♥♥♥♥ tons of games on Linux and BSD can't even reliably run Linux games/programs it seems your take is literally backwards.
I bought an AM% system with a 7900xt when they were new and Linux ran just fine on it, gaming and all.
Can you even run BSD on this machine?
FreeBSD is as good for games as Linux or Windows.
What are you talking about? The same PC can be used to run BSD, Linux, and Windows! It is up to the user to provide hardware powerful enough to run a specific title (just as on Windows).
BSD is quite often ahead of time and competitors use BSD licensed solutions unnoticed (license allows that).
For your information Playstation (3,4,5) runs on FreeBSD and it uses cutting edge AMD chipsets (only PS3 used PowerPC architecture) ;-)
BSD is quite conservative and kind of resistant to "enforced changes" with long term maintenance in mind. To be honest BSD build would not really differ from Linux or macOS (it is Mach+BSD).. except it should be even esier to maintain :-)
When there is a push for multimedia there will be a development in this area :-)
